In this season, we wait for JESUS to come. We wait and we still ourselves. We wait in the early morning darkness and we wait in moments of silence. We put up our Christmas trees, hang the star or angel and watch and wait. We decorate and wait with expectant hearts.
We shop, looking for that perfect gift each year, accept invitations to fun gatherings and we eat way more than we should. But at this time of year, we all seem to gather, coming in out of the cold to the warm. We make room on our calendars for all these activities, but are we making room for JESUS?
ISAIAH 11: 10 “IN THAT DAY THE ROOT OF JESSE WILL STAND AS A BANNER FOR THE PEOPLE; THE NATIONS WILL RALLY TO HIM AND HIS RESTING PLACE WILL BE GLORIOUS.”
A resting place……Mary and Joseph found a simple manger, a resting place all quiet and peaceful for the LORD’S birth, and HIS place was glorious and holy.
In all our comings and goings this Christmas, we can rest peacefully in the waiting too……
ISAIAH 53: 5 “BUT HE WAS PIERCED FOR OUR TRANSGRESSIONS, HE WAS CRUSHED FOR OUR INIQUITIES; THE PUNISHMENT THAT BROUGHT US PEACE WAS ON HIM, AND BY HIS WOUNDS WE ARE HEALED.”

And when we make time and space for JESUS………HE comes each Christmas and reminds us of this:
ISAIAH 52:7 “HOW BEAUTIFUL ON THE MOUNTAINS ARE THE FEET OF THOSE WHO BRING GOOD NEWS, WHO PROCLAIM PEACE, WHO BRING GOOD TIDINGS, WHO PROCLAIM SALVATION.”
May the Holy GRACE of this season cause you to pause……….JESUS came for us with all of HIS glory and we are redeemed and comforted. We are HIS people, HIS love, and HIS heart.
Your feet are beautiful, Maxine; you bring good news, you proclaim peace, you bring good tidings, you proclaim salvation.
Thank you for this peace today.
