Oh, how our ways and our actions can go south on us and we become wayward. The word wayward means this: following one’s own capricious, wanton, or depraved inclinations.
Due to our sin condition, we truly are depraved compared to our HOLY GOD.
ROMANS 1: 28 “FURTHERMORE, JUST AS THEY DID NOT THINK IT WORTHWHILE TO RETAIN THE KNOWLEDGE OF GOD, SO GOD GAVE THEM OVER TO A DEPRAVED MIND, SO THAT THEY DO WHAT OUGHT NOT TO BE DONE.”
GOD does work in HIS own way to expose our depraved hearts. If we seek HIS forgiveness, then JESUS will give us enough grace to change our actions and to change our minds and hearts.
PSALM 119: 5 “OH, THAT MY ACTIONS WOULD CONSISTENTLY REFLECT YOUR DECREES!”
Notice the above scripture says……..consistently reflect. Being consistent seems to be one thing we are not. We strive to be like JESUS but in our own strength and then we fall short. Hiding scripture in our hearts dictates our actions, because you can never go wrong with HIS WORD. Trust it and embrace it with all your might. And let the words of your mouth and your actions be pleasing in HIS sight. Remember, as I have written here about it before…….we have an audience of ONE!
1 JOHN 3: 18 “DEAR CHILDREN, LET US NOT LOVE WITH WORDS OR SPEECH BUT WITH ACTIONS AND IN TRUTH.”
Embrace the word and let it wrap itself around your heart and then it will dictate all you do. Because when our actions reflect the Savior, we are most like HIM and we are walking our faith out.
PSALM 119: 6 “THEN I WILL NOT BE ASHAMED WHEN I COMPARE MY LIFE WITH YOUR COMMANDS.”
Then…….I will not be ashamed. Use the word, embrace the word and love the word. We cannot in this day and age read it enough. But when we do, we are changed in some ways we don’t even realize. Reading takes time, changing our hearts takes time too. Then our actions will reflect all that we have read. And isn’t it wonderful that we have such a faithful and patient GOD? If we hide HIS words in our hearts then we walk in the way that GOD designed us to be. Thank GOD for HIS immeasurable grace……..thank GOD that HE loves us that much!
PSALM 119: 11 “I HAVE HIDDEN YOUR WORD IN MY HEART, THAT I MIGHT NOT SIN AGAINST YOU.”
