WALK IN THE WAY OF GENTLENESS

A bruised reed HE will not break…….did you know?  Knowing this from scripture is so comforting isn’t it?  As powerful as our GOD is, HE is also a very gentle GOD.  This scripture is mentioned in ISAIAH 42:3 and then again in MATTHEW 12:20.  I think it significant that this is referred to twice.  GOD’S gentleness cannot be understood until you experience it.

MATTHEW 11: 29  “TAKE MY YOKE UPON YOU, AND LEARN FROM ME, FOR I AM GENTLE AND LOWLY IN HEART, AND YOU WILL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS.”

We are to learn from HIM.  Learn from HIS example of gentleness.  There is so much strife and chaos in the world right now, that gentleness is all but lost!   It is a state of being mild in manner or disposition.  In our current world I think you can agree that this is not seen at all.  People are awful with one another and no one seems to have patience or compassion.  Our world is one where people will kill one another for no reason at all.  How terribly sad.

If you have experienced HIS gentleness with you in your life or during prayer time, then you understand what I am talking about.  HIS touch is like nothing else, gentle and kind and loving.   And we are to walk in a manner worthy of this, of being gentle like CHRIST.  It’s a calling and may we come to embrace it wholeheartedly ……..

EPHESIANS 4: 1-2  “I THEREFORE, A PRISONER FOR THE LORD, URGE YOU TO WALK IN A MANNER WORTHY OF THE CALLING TO WHICH YOU HAVE BEEN CALLED, WITH ALL HUMILITY AND GENTLENESS, WITH PATIENCE BEARING WITH ONE ANOTHER IN LOVE…….”

I have always loved reeds by the sea…….they sway so gently with the sea breeze.  And with JESUS by our sides, we can bend but not break with life.   This is all because our Savior lovingly and gently cups our faces and says to us:  keep going Child, for I am with you.   Oh how HIS whispers to us are go gentle and loving!

In the very heart of your life, ask JESUS to abide with you, because HE goes with you in the deepest hardest things imaginable.

WE MAY BE BROKEN BUT JESUS DOES NOT BREAK US, HE REMAKES US

And in our remaking, we then learn to be as gentle with others, as JESUS is with us.   We may be bruised and we may be battered, but JESUS and HIS gentleness comes to us when we need it the most.  HIS provision never fails.  So spend time with your gentle SAVIOR today and learn to walk in that gentleness HE gives you. Then extend your hands and your heart gently and humbly to those around you who so desperately need it too.

JAMES 3: 17  “BUT THE WISDOM FROM ABOVE IS FIRST OF ALL PURE.  IT IS ALSO PEACE LOVING, GENTLE AT ALL TIMES, AND WILLING TO YIELD TO OTHERS.”

  1. My husband has a friend who recently began working overnights, stocking, at a store. Today he asked my husband, “Are you grateful?” (Side note: my husband is one of the most grateful men I know.) My husband replied that he tries to be, every day. The friend went on to relate his experiences in the breakroom at work – the complaining, the whining, the negativity. It was really bringing him down. The friend is also a grateful person, and I think that’s why he and my husband have such a strong bond together.
I think having a grateful heart is tied to being gentle.

    1. I would agree. Grateful is being mindful of everything really, the little things, people around you and situations. Also, when you see that GOD has HIS hand upon you, that alone makes you grateful……..so grateful heart, gentle heart!!
