One of my favorite things to imagine is arriving in Heaven and seeing the long table set for a KING and all of HIS followers. It will be beautiful, probably like nothing my mind could really think of……..
PSALM 23: 5 “YOU PREPARE A TABLE BEFORE ME.”
After JESUS’ resurrection HE appeared to HIS disciples on the beach and JESUS said to them,
JOHN 21: 12 “COME AND HAVE BREAKFAST.”
The disciples found a charcoal fire in place with fish laid out upon it and bread too. JESUS provided the food the disciples needed not only for their bodies, but for their souls. And because they had just caught many fish, it must have been quite a small feast!
There seems to be an importance here of food and community and being invited to come and enjoy food, food so good, it satisfies the soul.
JOHN 21: 12-13 “THEY KNEW IT WAS THE LORD. JESUS CAME AND TOOK THE BREAD AND GAVE IT TO THEM, AND SO WITH THE FISH.”
Who doesn’t love to be invited…….and who doesn’t love to come and sit at a beautiful table, so wonderful and beautifully set that the eyes of the beholder has no words. I am thinking again, in Heaven’s terms. Because I believe there will be tables in Heaven, but the best part will be our Savior sitting with us at those tables. And oh how the conversation will go!!
A table has many uses and is mentioned often in scripture. So try to imagine a heavenly one, a table set just for you and all the other souls that have arrived to be in CHRIST’S presence!
I imagine that table to be long, so long that when you look down upon it, there is no end! But somehow we will all be together, and HIS presence will be a joy beyond anything we have ever known. And the conversation will last as long as it has to because there is no more the concept of time, only eternity.
AN ETERNAL TABLE WAITS FOR US AND OUR ETERNAL GOD!
The best part of this imagination of mine is that JESUS is waiting for us! HE will extend HIS hand to us, with complete love and compassion in HIS eyes and will say: “welcome faithful one.” These will be the best words spoken that our soul longs to hear. Because JESUS is present with us, our SAVIOR, our REDEEMER, and our KING!
Let all of us continually look vertical, because our true heart and desire is to be with the ONE who saved us! I am sure our imaginations cannot quite grasp all that Heaven will be, but we can grasp through the WORD given to us, just how powerful and majestic, how loving and gracious our JESUS is. And we will worship HIM forever and ever, enjoying HIS love and company at a table graciously set, just for us!
PSALM 36: 5-6 “YOUR STEADFAST LOVE, O LORD, EXTENDS TO THE HEAVENS, YOUR FAITHFULNESS TO THE CLOUDS. YOUR RIGHTEOUSNESS IS LIKE THE MOUNTAINS OF GOD; YOUR JUDGEMENTS ARE LIKE THE GREAT DEEP; MAN AND BEAST YOU SAVE, O LORD.”
HEAVENSREEF 
Ahh, what a peaceful thought: “And the conversation will last as long as it has to because there is no more the concept of time, only eternity. ” No more hurrying, ever, no stress. Only joyful, magnificent peace with our LORD!
