A TANGIBLE REMINDER

Because we are human, different from one another with all our faults, success and failures, GOD communicates with each of us in a unique way.   HE has HIS very own way with you and HIS way with me.  HE reminds us every day of who HE is.  We need only pay attention to HIS unique communication because it is nothing like the way the world communicates.

2 PETER 1: 12  “SO I WILL ALWAYS REMIND YOU OF THESE THINGS…….”

Aren’t we living reminders of GOD’S work within us?  We are walking reminders of HIS salvation and redemption.  Peter never stopped reminding those around him who they were in CHRIST.

In Peter’s second letter to those who had faith, he wanted them to confirm their calling and election……

2 PETER 1: 12  “…….EVEN THOUGH YOU ALREADY KNOW THEM AND ARE STANDING FIRM IN THE TRUTH YOU HAVE BEEN TAUGHT.”

Peter thought it was important to do this…….

2 PETER 1: 13  “I THINK IT RIGHT, AS LONG AS I AM IN THIS BODY TO STIR YOU UP BY WAY OF REMINDER.”

The NLT says it this way:  “And it is only right that I should keep on reminding you as long as I live.”

I think that we often fail to remind one another who we are in CHRIST.   We often think of ourselves first!  So we, in the midst of our busy lives, forget to remind one another of GOD’S love for us.

BUT GOD……..NEVER FAILS TO REMIND US!

We all want and seek after that tangible truth somewhere, anywhere.   We seek for GOD sometimes in all the wrong places too.  Seeing proof with our eyes and embracing truth in our hearts are two different things.

GOD’S word is a tangible truth right at our very fingertips.  The Bible, GOD’S word for us, is worth all of our awe and respect.  It is the best truth we have that GOD is who HE says HE is and that HE fills every promise written.

And since GOD looks at the heart, while we look at the outward appearance……..looking for those details only you know, are vital to your relationship to HIM.  You know what I mean, those little “tangible reminders” that only you see and understand between you and GOD?

HE has HIS way with us and communicates with us, either in nature, through song, the written word, a prayer or a kind word spoken at the right time.

We all desire those tangible reminders……..I for one, will never forget a woman’s weekend in the Rocky Mountains.  On a clear, beautiful starry night GOD kindly nudged my inner being as I looked up at all those diamonds in the sky.  And I heard HIM whisper: I did this just for you.  Ever since then I am on the lookout for those “lovely” things HE places in my path as if HE is always saying:  see, I did this!  See, I am near you.

HIS ways and HIS touch is like none other, gentle and kind.  HE loves us and wants us to understand and speaks to each of us if we will only listen……..

HOSEA 14: 9  “WHO IS WISE?  LET THEM REALIZE THESE THINGS.  WHO IS DISCERNING? LET THEM UNDERSTAND.  THE WAYS OF THE LORD ARE RIGHT.”

We need only believe…….believe HE is there, a faithful and true GOD of love.  HE reminds us of who HE is: the Alpha and the Omega, the eternal ONE, Immanuel, Yahweh and the Way, the Truth and the Life.  Draw near today and look…….there is a tangible reminder of HIM just for you.

If you have the time, let me know here one way GOD seems to communicate with you, a tangible reminder HE shows you.  I would love to hear from you!

1 CORINTHIANS 15: 1-2  “NOW I WOULD REMIND YOU, BROTHERS, OF THE GOSPEL I PREACHED TO YOU, WHICH YOU RECEIVED IN WHICH YOU STAND, AND BY WHICH YOU ARE BEING SAVED…….”

  1. That’s one of the reasons I love this Christian blogging world – we remind each other all the time of who we are in Christ, what He has done for us, and the many reasons we have to fall on our faces before Him and worship Him.
Like you, God uses personal reminders for me, often, in the sky: a rainbow, the moon, a sunrise or sunset, a sundog, a brilliantly blue sky… Sometimes He uses other people, like when my husband offers to help in the kitchen. God knows me intimately, and He knows just how to bless me. I love God!

    1. Yes Kathy, may we continue to encourage one another and may we continue to look for HIS intimate ways that HE blesses each of us. Gotta love that rainbow! I have seen a few double rainbows here in AZ. Breathtaking!
