Are you at home with GOD or are you more at home with the world? Because we need to continually check ourselves with this fact. If we are more at home with the world then we have intentionally drifted from GOD. The world will pull us in and we need to continually pull ourselves away. We need to find that place where we can go to be alone with GOD. JESUS did this often.
LUKE 11: 1 “NOW JESUS WAS PRAYING IN A CERTAIN PLACE.”
When your heart, mind and soul are at home with the LORD…….you realize one day that you are just traveling through this world – you are a sojourner, a stranger here really, one who is in a temporary place, on your way towards the Promised Land.
WE EACH LIVE IN OUR OWN HOME MADE IN THE WORLD, BUT OUR TRUE HOME IS AND WILL ONE DAY BE WITH GOD.
We have moved quite a bit in my life…….this is our 8th house. I always wonder what it will be like to be home once and for all with GOD. It will be the perfect place, with JESUS and with all of creation who love HIM, just as I do.
But currently we are sojourners and we are living in this broken world with GOD alongside us, guiding us to our true home……
GENESIS 26: 3 “SOJOURN IN THIS LAND, AND I WILL BE WITH YOU AND WILL BLESS YOU.”
We live daily as a foreigner, feeling more and more like we don’t belong here, like we weren’t meant to be here, like we were made for somewhere else. So internally we seek and desire somewhere else……
AND IN OUR SEEKING WE FIND OUR TRUE HOME IN GOD
Nothing else satisfies, no one else is the answer………GOD is our true north, our all and all, our salvation and our provider and protector. HE is our true sanctuary and we long to be with HIM.
Our longing and desire increases the longer we live here and we search for peace, any peace to see us through. But there is only so much peace that can be found here on this planet……..
ISAIAH 26: 3 “YOU KEEP HIM IN PERFECT PEACE WHOSE MIND IS STAYED ON YOU, BECAUSE HE TRUSTS IN YOU.”
And so as we sojourn here, we trust GOD and HIS will upon us, to get us to our true home. Our trust fades in this world and rests on GOD alone because HE is our true sanctuary, our true home.
People will ask: where do you live? Interesting question if you think about it……we all live somewhere, but where does our soul live? Does it live with and desire GOD more than anything else in this world? Our eternal home is to be much more treasured than this current home. HIS dwelling place is a desired place, an out of this world place! Stop today and take inventory……where does your heart, soul and mind dwell? Do you dwell with GOD or the world? It’s a good question to ask ourselves and it is a good thing to know where we will go after we die. Because HE is our GOD and we are HIS people.
REVELATION 21: 3 “AND I HEARD A LOUD VOICE FROM THE THRONE SAYING, “LOOK! GOD’S DWELLING PLACE IS NOW AMONG THE PEOPLE, AND HE WILL DWELL WITH THEM. THEY WILL BE HIS PEOPLE, AND GOD HIMSELF WILL BE WITH THEM AND BE THEIR GOD.”

“Our longing and desire increases the longer we live here” — so true! We find ourselves saying often, “Even so, come Lord Jesus.”
We have the peace and contentment of His presence while we sojourn here; but we so long for His face!

I am praying that I will be more at home with the Lord than in this world. When we abide in His presence daily we can experience contentment and His peace that passes all understanding. Thanks for sharing.

Yes we should crave being with HIM every day. HIS peace and contentment is a treasure worth having.
