SUNDAY REFLECTIONS/GOD DEPOSITS

Have you ever thought of making deposits into your account held by GOD?  HE holds the very account of our lives and it HAS BEEN PAID IN FULL by the blood of JESUS.  This is what our precious SAVIOR has done for us on the Cross.  Our pastor has reminded us of this idea several times recently.  But how do we make deposits?  Doesn’t our love for CHRIST compel us to make those deposits?  It’s not something we just do, we intentionally draw near to HIM because of the truth of the GOSPEL and because of HIS amazing grace and then we freely say: here I am LORD, send me!

EPHESIANS 1: 13-14  “AND YOU ALSO WERE INCLUDED IN CHRIST WHEN YOU HEARD THE MESSAGE OF TRUTH, THE GOSPEL OF YOUR SALVATION.  WHEN YOU BELIEVED, YOU WERE MARKED IN HIM WITH A SEAL, THE PROMISED HOLY SPIRIT, WHO IS A DEPOSIT GUARANTEEING OUR INHERITANCE UNTIL THE REDEMPTION OF THOSE WHO ARE GOD’S POSSESSION – TO THE PRAISE OF HIS GLORY.”

As the above scripture says……the promised HOLY SPIRIT is our deposit guaranteeing our inheritance…….. when we believed!

Think this over………do you continually make withdrawals or deposits???  I have examined myself in all of this.  And I would say I am guilty of more withdrawals than deposits.  Sometimes you wonder if GOD gets tired of hearing us asking for the same thing.  Sometimes you wonder if HE gets tired of seeing us on FB or Instagram.  And don’t we do exactly this with our GOD?  But HE gives greater grace and is faithful as HE draws us near in patience.  So, our deposits of time should define us in our faith.  May we spend time with HIM daily and pray that our life busyness does not consume all of our time.

I am sure I withdraw more than I deposit, but my desire this year is to deposit more and more…….more prayer, more praise, more worship, more thoughts, more study, more fellowship.  But I also want to sit and listen, to just be still and know.  To take a deep breath and draw HIM in.  My desire is to revere HIM more for who HE is and what HE has done and the promises HE has shown me.

PSALM 37: 7  “BE STILL BEFORE THE LORD AND WAIT PATIENTLY FOR HIM.”

Yes, HE is faithful whether we are making those deposits or not…….we have a steadfast FATHER in heaven.  HE knows we drift in our belief and HE continually welcomes us back before HIM!

PSALM 46: 10  “BE STILL AND KNOW THAT I AM GOD!  I WILL BE HONORED BY EVERY NATION.  I WILL BE HONORED THROUGHOUT THE WORLD.”

There are ways we can make these deposits……..through praise and worship.  We can read our Bible daily to understand HIS love letter for us.  We can memorize scripture and hold it tight within our hearts.  And we can continually lift up praise to HIM…….about everything we receive each and every day.  As we make these deposits, our love for our GOD grows and grows.  What a beautiful thing!  We find joy with HIM at every turn and live in awe under HIS mighty HAND.

Being still is good for us.  The world will push us beyond our limits and because of that we are in a constant state of withdrawal.  We rush and we hurry to attain all we can because culture tells us to do this, but we must remain firm and find time to be still and quiet before HIM, to honor HIM each and every day.  So let’s take care…….deposit your all that you can……..for HIM.  Be still this day and be in relationship with the GOD who loves you!

PSALM 18: 31-32  “FOR WHO IS GOD BESIDES THE LORD?  AND WHO IS A ROCK?  ONLY OUR GOD.  GOD – HE CLOTHES ME WITH STRENGTH AND MAKES MY WAY PERFECT.”

  1. This reminds me of the hymn:
    Fill my cup, Lord
    I lift it up, Lord
Come and quench this thirsting of my soul
Bread of Heaven, feed me ’til I want no more
Fill my cup, fill it up and make me whole.

Only God can fill us – and He does! We get drained by the things of this world, but God is always greater.
