THANKFUL FOR PUDDLES

As I was walking through the park I live near, a lady was coming towards me with a stroller, a dog and her little girl who was joyfully jumping in the puddles that were left from the sprinklers.   She was jumping with such laser focus that she almost jumped into me on the sidewalk.  But she didn’t seem to mind…….her focus was on the water there for her to jump into.  And jump she did!  Her Mom and I both laughed at her little girl’s glee.  Her intensity reminded me to examine my intensity and focus in the LORD.  Do I have the same delight and joy too?

Here is a question we need to ask ourselves:  is my focus on the LORD more intense as I walk each day or am I drifting slowly away because of the stuff of this world?

Doctors use lasers for all kinds of reasons.  I recently had one used on my eyes.  The technology is pretty amazing.  In our faith we are required to “see” only one person in front of us………JESUS CHRIST.

JOHN 14: 9  “THE ONE WHO HAS SEEN ME HAS SEEN THE FATHER.”

HIS word is clear, plain and simple for us.  We can find all we need to focus upon right there in the Good Book of the LORD’S.  So why do we allow so many things to hold us back? What is it that keeps our focus muddy and unclear?

First…….there is the pride of self-will.  We are so good at doing things on our own rather than relying on GOD first.  Let’s ask GOD to break our self-will……I don’t know about you, but I am disgusted with myself when I want things my way…….  only because I know my way is usually flawed.

Second……..there is the pride of intellect.  Most people think they are the smartest person in the room.  They act like it and try to tell everyone else that they know better because they are so smart.  Sad part of all this is in reality they are the dumbest people in the room because they cannot see past themselves.  So there is no seeing GOD there……they think they are little gods running around for everyone else to bow to.

Third…….there is the pride of self-righteousness.  This one can get a lot of us into trouble……we think we are right, plain and simple rather than embracing our FATHER who is the only righteous ONE.

ROMANS 3: 10  “AS THE SCRIPTURES SAY, NO ONE IS RIGHTEOUS – NOT EVEN ONE.”

Let’s wrap our minds around that……not one of us is righteous……only JESUS is and HIS righteousness is being accredited into our accounts.  But it is HIS doing on our behalf, we can do nothing to earn this salvation.  HE saved us from ourselves on the CROSS.

Back to the little girl jumping…….I wished I could have joined her!  Maybe as adults we try to be so serious that we truly lose our joy and gladness that we should be filled with each and every day we are here.  I think we need to try to find something we did as a child and do it again if possible…….there is joy to be found there.  Remember that childlike wonder?  I am sure GOD gave it to us, to know and remember what pure joy is!

And in that joy may our focus remain upon the LORD…….HE is pure joy and HE alone makes our joy complete.

JOHN 15: 11  “I HAVE TOLD YOU THESE THINGS SO THAT MY JOY MAY BE IN YOU AND YOUR JOY MAY BE COMPLETE.”

Jesus has told us many things……things about us, our world, our lives and how to live.  So that……..we may have joy.

Kids know how to live in the moment, in the precious present.  We could learn a lot from them.  We could learn a lot from JESUS too……HE lived completely in the present with laser focus.  HIS focus always being upon HIS Father.

So as we approach this season of thanks this week……narrow your focus upon the LORD…….and be thankful that HE is there, always with a gracious HAND upon you.  HE sees you, with a laser focus…….just turn and look back!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL AND TO EVERYONE WHO READS HEAVENSREEF.  IT WARMS MY HEART KNOWING YOU TAKE THE TIME TO STOP BY……. I AM THANKFUL FOR MY LORD AND FOR YOU DEAR READER!

PSALM 116: 17  “I WILL OFFER YOU A SACRIFICE OF THANKSGIVING AND CALL ON THE NAME OF THE LORD.”

  1. Love this, Maxine! Your blog means so much to so many of us. Thank you for, each and every time, turning our focus to God, the ONE Who fills us and blesses us and uses us; and the ONE to Whom we bow and worship and praise.
This: “Sad part of all this is in reality they are the dumbest people in the room because they cannot see past themselves.” When we don’t have the wisdom of God, we don’t have wisdom at all.
