A WALL AND A WELL

GOD is both a wall and a well to HIS people.  Some people plant beautiful vines over those walls that look so plain.  Here in AZ all our yards are surrounded by those brick walls.  Some see them as ugly, some see them as privacy and some see them as protection.

GOD in HIS infinite wisdom protects us and yet is a well of wisdom and guidance for all HIS people.  The well never runs dry and it is referred to often in scripture because of it’s life sustaining water.  This well cannot be capped or run dry in any way because………

JEREMIAH 2: 13  “THEY HAVE ABANDONED ME, THE FOUNTAIN OF LIVING WATER, AND DUG CISTERNS FOR THEMSELVES – CRACKED CISTERNS THAT CANNOT HOLD WATER.”

Our LORD GOD is a fountain of living water.  It is not finite like the water that covers the earth.  But oh what a refreshment it is and water is what we all need.

Our human wells can run dry and our human built walls can crack and fall down.  All are broken in some way.  All crumble and all crack.

GOD’S WALL OF PROTECTION IS SOLID AND ETERNAL

I like to think of HIS hand as a wall of protection around me, and GOD protects us in so many ways.  Our faith is even a wall of protection around our lives.  But some walls need to come down within us…….you know those walls of pride and independence.  All those walls we ourselves put up to protect our egos.  GOD’S wall of protection is so much better than our own.  Let’s ask for HIS hedge of protection every single day.  Because it is there for the asking.  And honestly, if we have JESUS as our true wall of protection, why do we keep building our own walls?

ISAIAH 60: 18  “YOU WILL CALL YOUR WALLS SALVATION AND YOUR CITY GATES PRAISE.”

This wall of salvation and protection is what we need!  Let’s desire it and ask.

Remember that walls divide and create hostility between people too.  We are pretty good at putting them up so people cannot get close to us, or let people know the real person of who we are.  GOD knows our walls and with HIM alone, HE breaks down those walls and uses HIS own to build us back up.  HE is our strength and our might.  HIS wall of protection and provision is the best kind of wall.

EPHESIANS 2: 14 “FOR HE IS OUR PEACE, WHO MADE BOTH GROUPS ONE AND TORE DOWN THE DIVIDING WALL OF HOSTILITY.”

Our inner walls are being torn down daily by GOD because HE says I am the better wall!  Only JESUS can tear down walls between us and in us and begin to build something better.  HE builds our walls of faith and trust and they are solid ones and very secure.  Nothing and no one can tear down these walls…….they are all HIS!

HIS WALL OF PROTECTION IS IMMOVABLE.

Knowing HIS wall of protection is there drives us to HIS well of sustaining life giving water.  There we find peace and soothing water to quench our thirst.  It is a living water and our spirit craves it daily.  We only find this water in the deep well of HIS WORD that is life-sustaining with all of it’s eternal wisdom.  Oh what a wonderful well that doesn’t run dry!

LORD THANK YOU TODAY……..for being a beautiful wall of protection and provision around us.  YOU are a wall of strength that will never fall down or crumble like the walls we know and the walls we put up inside us.  Continue to tear down those walls we put up!  Then guide us to your life-sustaining well of water, that beautiful water of grace, that quenches all our thirst forevermore!

JOHN 7: 37-38  “IF ANYONE IS THIRSTY, LET HIM COME TO ME AND DRINK.  THE ONE WHO BELIEVES IN ME, AS THE SCRIPTURE HAS SAID, WILL HAVE STREAMS OF LIVING WATER FLOW FROM DEEP WITHIN HIM.”

  1. “Our inner walls are being torn down daily by GOD because HE says I am the better wall!”
A lot of times, those walls being torn down feel like tribulation. These are the tearing-down-rebuilding times that hurt. We have to say goodbye to some things we love, and take up things we didn’t think we’d like.
And during all those times, God is with us, providing Living Water.
    We serve a great GOD!
