ASK HARD QUESTIONS

Do you have a desire to grow your faith?  In so doing, it does require of us to ask hard questions.  When you draw closer to GOD, you want to know and understand the heart of JESUS.  To know HIM is to love HIM more.  And to understand the GOD who walked the earth is a precious treasure that we as HIS children should embrace.

ASKING HARD QUESTIONS MEANS HARD ANSWERS MAY COME.

Our LORD hears our prayers with our questions and HE answers with a yes, no or maybe.  Often HE shows us through circumstances what we need to do and often it requires a humbling of our soul.

With my cancer diagnosis, my most recent question has been “why me LORD?”  And HIS answer has been to me:  WHY NOT YOU!  Seriously, I am not entitled to any more special treatment and gifts from GOD than the next person.  The foot of the CROSS is level for all who come there.

OUR GOD IS THE GOD OF ALL JUSTICE, MERCY AND GRACE.

Let your heart ask……..be prepared to be humbled and brought low.  It is a good thing to be brought to your knees.  It is only there that we see how mighty our GOD is.  From our knees HE is then put into HIS rightful place…….to have LORDSHIP over our lives.

JEREMIAH 33: 3  “CALL TO ME AND I WILL ANSWER YOU AND TELL YOU GREAT AND INCOMPREHENSIBLE THINGS YOU DO NOT KNOW.”

There is so much of this life we do not know or understand.  But our GOD is good and righteous all the time and is a rock to depend upon.  The Good News translation of the above verse says it this way:

JEREMIAH 33: 3  “I WILL TELL YOU WONDERFUL AND MARVELOUS THINGS THAT YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT.”

So in order for us to grow, maybe we need to ask those hard questions we really want to avoid, but nag at us daily.  Ask the why and when and how.  The LORD is always there and HE hears us and knows our human condition.  It is no surprise to HIM and no question angers HIM either.  Because of our questions, HE can do a good work in us and grow us up in our faith.

1 JOHN 3: 19-20  “THIS IS HOW WE WILL KNOW THAT WE BELONG TO THE TRUTH AND WILL REASSURE OUR HEARTS BEFORE HIM, WHENEVER OUR HEARTS CONDEMN US, FOR GOD IS GREATER THAN OUR HEARTS, AND HE KNOWS ALL THINGS.”

GOD is greater than our greatest heart’s desire and our greatest deepest hard questions.  HE is greater than our universe we live in……so ask HIM today.  Be bold and come to the throne of grace.  Our God welcomes all who come with a grateful and submissive heart…….a heart that is not afraid to ask!

Follow the saints before you who asked many questions of the LORD, and know today that HE is your Abba FATHER. Your all-knowing FATHER.  A FATHER you can depend upon.  The GOD of all truth.

1 JOHN 5: 20  “AND WE KNOW THAT THE SON OF GOD HAS COME AND HAS GIVEN US UNDERSTANDING SO THAT WE MAY KNOW THE TRUE ONE.”

  1. A dear friend’s 9-year-old granddaughter was killed yesterday in a tragic home accident. There will be many hard questions. They are Christians, and know this was the hand of God. But when it hurts so much, it’s very hard to make any sense of it.
Maxine, you have always been a shining light for God. Your diagnosis puts a new facet on that light, shining in new places and in new ways. God has given you so much; thank you for sharing it.

    1. Oh Kathy! What a heartache and tragedy. A life cut short and why dear LORD? So much of this we don’t understand. Hard questions cut deep in our souls and we cry out in anguish. But all I know is GOD is always there……HE is near and holds our questioning hands and souls. When it hurts so much is when we need to draw near to HIM! I will pray for your friend……

  2. Well done, Maxine. Solid truth spoken here, from top to bottom. I especially agree with: “And HIS answer has been to me: WHY NOT YOU! Seriously, I am not entitled to any more special treatment and gifts from GOD than the next person. The foot of the CROSS is level for all who come there.” This is something all believers must remember!

    1. Thanks so much DAVID! Your words mean much to me as you know. I continue to ask the hard questions as I come boldly to the foot of the CROSS. I trust always that JESUS meets me there no matter what and no matter what condition I am in! OH…….HE IS SO SO GOOD!

  3. Thanks for the beautiful reminder, and the challenge to ask the hard questions.
I have come to the point where I will ask the hard questions, and sometimes the answer is, “I will tell you someday, when you need to know, but you don’t need to know that now.” And I’ve come to the point that I can be OK with that – He’ll give me the answer when I need it. #trust
