SUNDAY REFLECTIONS

Anyone else love a red letter Bible?  I grew up with one and many translations today still have those words in red.  Those words in red are words said by JESUS.  They are important and you cannot miss them because they are red.  They stand out and you will find them mostly in the 4 Gospels.

But I also think they are in red because we are meant to take them seriously.  Red is a beautiful color in the Christian Faith.  The precious blood of JESUS was red.  Let’s remember the blood shed for us on the Cross for all of our sins.  JESUS took the nails for you and for me and HIS blood ran red.

JOHN 10: 11 “I AM THE GOOD SHEPHERD.  THE GOOD SHEPHERD LAYS DOWN HIS LIFE FOR THE SHEEP.”

We value something by the price we place upon a particular thing.  JESUS and HIS words are priceless!  Once you realize this, you will turn to HIS words more and more.  You will begin to meditate upon them, study them and hold them close within your heart.  And after that, you will begin to share those red letter words with others to encourage and lift up those who need to hear them.

JOHN 3: 3  “JESUS REPLIED, “VERY TRULY I TELL YOU, NO ONE CAN SEE THE KINGDOM OF GOD UNLESS THEY ARE BORN AGAIN.”

The true GOSPEL is repeated often in those red letters.  Those words are life to the lost.  Those words are life for us too!  Those red letter words bring redemption and love, mercy and forgiveness.  May we embrace those red letters daily and believe as JESUS said, that all who believe are welcome and that all who believe will be forgiven.  Read and reread those red letters and come to know them well.  Remind yourself and remember what JESUS did for you on the Cross.  Because those words are a beacon of shining light not just for us, but for the whole current dark world in which we live.

JOHN 6: 63  “THE WORDS I HAVE SPOKEN TO YOU – THEY ARE FULL OF THE SPIRIT AND LIFE.”
