SIGNPOSTS

There are signposts in life that tell us exactly where to go, like trying to find a highway to get us to our destination.  Signs in general are a big part of our lives.  Recently I visited CO and was so thankful for all the clear signs that got me through Denver International Airport.  It had been a few years since I had visited there and I was so grateful that I didn’t get lost!  It’s always easier when traveling with someone to have another pair of eyes on things however, all the signs were my best friend at the time of my visit.

Signposts are everywhere in our society, but the most accurate signposts there are just so happens to be the signposts of GOD.

GENESIS 9: 12-13  “AND GOD SAID, THIS IS THE SIGN OF THE COVENANT THAT I MAKE BETWEEN ME AND YOU AND EVERY LIVING CREATURE THAT IS WITH YOU, FOR ALL FUTURE GENERATIONS: I HAVE SET MY BOW IN THE CLOUD, AND IT SHALL BE A SIGN OF THE COVENANT BETWEEN ME AND THE EARTH.”

Ahh, so the rainbow is a visible reminder of GOD’S everlasting covenant with HIS people.  When we see this visible signpost, let’s remember who GOD is, HIS character and HIS promises to us as HIS people.

The rainbow is just one of the many visible signs GOD has placed in our world for us to see, including the stars, moon and the sun.  All placed there by our wise Creator.  Do we see these signs for what they are?  Do we remember GOD when we gaze upon them?  Do we stop and remember HIS greatness and are we still in the moment to hear HIS direction for us?  We are just passing through this land GOD has given us.  Do we follow the signs our world has told us that are good for us, or do we follow GOD’S clear signs for us because they are true and the direction for us is always accurate.

HIS DIRECTION IS ALWAYS ACCURATE.

Have you ever found your GPS to be inaccurate?  I sure have.  Sometimes it is due to a street not being finished.  What a feeling you get in your gut when you realize that you have been steered wrong!  But with GOD, that doesn’t happen!

GOD’S promises to us are true and sure and always can be counted upon.  What a comfort that is!  Today let’s look at a few:

HE says HE will never leave us…….HEBREWS 13: 5  “I WILL NEVER LEAVE YOU NOR FORSAKE YOU.”

HIS loving devotion endures forever……PSALM 100: 5  “FOR THE LORD IS GOOD; HIS STEADFAST LOVE ENDURES FOREVER, AND HIS FAITHFULNESS TO ALL GENERATIONS.”

HE will contend with those who contend with us……ISAIAH 50: 8  “HE WHO VINDICATES ME IS NEAR. WHO WILL CONTEND WITH ME?”

JESUS is our Savior and is all we need……ROMANS 5: 9  “SINCE WE HAVE NOW BEEN JUSTIFIED BY HIS BLOOD, HOW MUCH MORE SHALL WE BE SAVED FROM GOD’S WRATH THROUGH HIM!”

And I could go on and on.  There are many promises in the Bible left for us.  Our Bible is our unmistakable signpost of what to do in any given situation.  It is our anchor for our very souls.  So let’s be certain to go there when we need a “sign” of where and what to do in our lives.  The answers are all there.  We just need to look, search and listen to the holy wisdom given to us, then turn and go in that direction!

ISAIAH 30: 21  “WHETHER YOU TURN TO THE RIGHT OR TO THE LEFT, YOUR EARS WILL HEAR A VOICE BEHIND YOU SAYING, “THIS IS THE WAY; WALK IN IT.”

YES!  There is a way…….HIS way.  The only way!  GOD’S way is the best!  Decide today if you will follow HIS signposts for you.  They are all around us and written down for us.  Draw near and HE will draw near to you.  Because HE cares for us and never leaves us, not now, not ever!

HOSEA 14: 9 “…….FOR THE WAYS OF THE LORD ARE RIGHT AND THE UPRIGHT WALK IN THEM.”

  1. I have long been a “moon watcher.” I enjoy seeing the different phases of the moon, its varying light, its shadows; I especially like the full moons (tomorrow is the brightest supermoon of the year!). I always think of God, my Creator when I see the moon, and it makes me remember His blessings and favor. Even when I am out of sorts, have trials, or the world seems crazy, God’s moon is still there. I know it, too, will vanish one day; but I will always have God and His promises.
