GUARANTEED SUFFERING

IF you find it hard to read this little post further due to the title, don’t stop here.  I promise this will end better!

I recently learned of more than one person close to me who has this dreaded virus!  Ugh, we wonder, will it ever go away?  Or will covid just become part of life?

There are a few guarantees in life……..we all die eventually and also we will experience suffering.  There is physical suffering and mental suffering and even spiritual suffering.  We cannot walk through life without experiencing some form of suffering.

OUR HEARTS BREAK TOO, BECAUSE JESUS BROKE HIS HEART FOR US.

Imagine how often JESUS’ heart breaks for all of us, the sinners that we are!

LUKE 23: 34  “AND JESUS SAID, “FATHER FORGIVE THEM, FOR THEY KNOW NOT WHAT THEY DO.”

No, as fallen as we are, we make unwise choices that lead to future suffering.  We don’t know what we are doing because humanity walks through life with blinders on, trying to avoid suffering at all costs.

There will be: loss, death, disease, physical and mental suffering and soul suffering.  This is a fact of life and suffering sometimes comes when we least expect it.  No one looks to suffer, but we all do.

JESUS knew this for us, understood it and that is why HE said HIS burden is light.  That is why HE died the way HE did on the Cross.  If we suffer now, on this earth, isn’t that a better thing then suffering in hell for all of eternity?

JESUS is our comforter always.  When no one else is there for us in our suffering, HIS presence is a healing balm that the world cannot give us.  And when we know HE is alongside us…….we are truly blessed!  I think often, how much more are those suffering without HIM!!

MATTHEW 5: 4  “BLESSED ARE THOSE WHO MOURN, FOR THEY SHALL BE COMFORTED.”

There will be loss in our lives, but we have a great comforter and CHIEF.  One who is our Savior, our Redeemer, the Messiah, the CHRIST!  HE is all powerful and all great in all things, and ONE who we can place our total trust in.  Who else can do this for us?  HE is always near and never leaves.  We only need to reach out as little children and ask HIM, ABBA FATHER, to comfort us and hold us.  Then that peace that goes beyond all our understanding comes upon us like nothing else in this world.

ROMANS 8: 17  “NOW IF WE ARE CHILDREN, THEN WE ARE HEIRS – HEIRS OF GOD AND CO-HEIRS WITH CHRIST, IF INDEED WE SHARE IN HIS SUFFERINGS IN ORDER THAT WE MAY SHARE IN HIS GLORY.”

THERE IS AN AMAZING LESSON WE LEARN IN AND THROUGH SUFFERING.

Jesus breaks us in order to remake us.  Our suffering changes us, changes our souls.  If it weren’t for suffering we would be so hard-hearted that no one could stand us.  JESUS always comes near to our brokenness, no matter what kind, and remakes us in a way that we are never the same again.  Every scar and every tear changes us.  And we are changed for the good to be more like HIM.

WITHOUT SUFFERING WE WOULD NEVER CHANGE ON OUR OWN.

I don’t know where you are today on your path.  It may be a path of joy or suffering, but whatever it is, don’t despair if you are in the midst of suffering…….because JESUS is there close.  Rejoice in the midst of where you are.  Reach for HIM with all you have…….and HE will come near with HIS love and comfort, as only a MESSIAH can!  And know because HE has you, you will spend your future in glory with HIM for all of eternity!

ROMANS 8: 17  “NO, IN ALL THESE THINGS WE ARE MORE THAN CONQUERORS THROUGH HIM WHO LOVED US.”

  1. What a comfort this post is!
Yes, we must suffer. God said so (John 16.33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.).
And, as much as we don’t like suffering, and we don’t want to suffer, we will, anyway. We spend a lot of time and energy planning and working a way out of suffering. Let us use our abilities in praising God, instead.

    1. Amen Kathy…….I am learning to do this. To just know that suffering here is a fact. And that any that I do is for HIS glory when I raise HIM high in the midst of the struggles! But oh then, we sure do know what true JOY is and we will know even more when HE takes us home!

  2. Yes, it is infinity better to suffer on earth than in hell for eternity. I don’t think most Christians give enough thought to what Jesus saved us FROM.
Recently an unbeliever we know was in a freak car accident and died after the car burst into flames. Another unbeliever said he hoped she was knocked unconscious before the car caught fire. As cruel as it sounds, I couldn’t agree. I was hoping she’d had time to cry out to God, realizing this wasn’t the way she wanted to spend eternity.
