DID I JUST SAY THAT?

There can be jewels in our language.  All of us are well aware of the vitriol currently running rampant in our society.  I don’t know about you, but it does give me pause when I speak my words, especially in mixed company.

BE CAREFUL WHAT YOUR SPEECH IS.

We should be quick to listen and slow to speak and the Bible warns us and commands us to be careful and to pay attention to how we utter our words……

JAMES 3: 8 “……BUT NO ONE CAN TAME THE TONGUE. IT IS A RESTLESS EVIL, FULL OF DEADLY POISON.”

Keeping this in mind I would like you to welcome Kimberly, my dear Sister in Christ, again as my guest here writing about what we say to one another and how we say it.  She has written the following poem.  Welcome her and she would love to hear from you!

DID I JUST SAY THAT……

Did I just say that?  Oh no it can’t be true

But how could I not for I am right……

Hurtful, thoughtless, careless words

Did you stop to think of me?

Under my skin that’s how you got me

A festering irritant right or wrong

But out there now so real and raw

For all to judge my outspoken thoughts

The guilt setting in, but why you say

You spoke your truth so why the pain?

Hurtful, thoughtless, careless words

Did I stop to think of you?

No different just the same

Our reflections in the mirror

As GOD sees us

Both HIS children no one better

Beautiful in HIS sight

Forgive me LORD for this oversight.

Thank you JESUS for this proof

Opening my eyes to see YOUR truth

To put aside my selfish ways……

Teach my tongue to pause and listen

To show the world YOUR heavenly vision!

Kimberly Cole Lombardo

We bless and curse with the same mouth, but may our words be seasoned with salt and light.  May we speak HIS words of loving truth to one another.  Speak truth in love for JESUS…….to show the world HIS heavenly vision.

EPHESIANS 4: 29 “LET NO UNWHOLESOME WORD COME OUT OF YOUR MOUTH, BUT IF THERE IS ANY GOOD WORD FOR EDIFICATION ACCORDING TO THE NEED OF THE MOMENT, SAY THAT, SO THAT IT WILL GIVE GRACE TO THOSE WHO HEAR.”

  1. Welcome Kimberly! Thank you for sharing edifying words.
When I get caught up in the emotions of a moment, it’s too easy to forget that I am here to serve others, including the one who just hurt me. Lord, may I be quick to die to self, to call on You, let You live through me.

    1. Oh yes. How difficult it is with what to say and how to say it. I have learned to hesitate and really think before I speak. But even then, how often do I put my foot in my mouth. JESUS is our example how to speak truth in LOVE!
