WORTHLESS WITHOUT THE VINE

Grapes hanging from a vine have a beauty all unto themselves don’t they?  There is a hotel up in Sedona, AZ where we have stayed several times that has grapes hanging from beautiful vines on trellises in the courtyard.  They are amazing in color and beauty.

A scripture in the book of JOHN tells us we are therefore unfruitful if we are not connected to the vine of CHRIST……

JOHN 15: 2  “EVERY BRANCH IN ME THAT DOES NOT PRODUCE FRUIT HE REMOVES, AND HE PRUNES EVERY BRANCH THAT PRODUCES FRUIT SO THAT IT WILL PRODUCE MORE FRUIT.”

OH LORD MAY OUR ROOTS RUN DEEP DOWN FOR YOU!!  When roots run deep, HE sustains them, even when we are unaware, but even more so when we are aware.  There may be times of pruning correction, none of which is fun.  JESUS prunes us to be even more fruitful than we already are.  HE is teaching us in HIS way.  We may not understand it at the time, but it is for our own good.  So, being connected, being attached, remaining in the vine, helps us to bear good fruit.  JESUS said this also:

JOHN 15: 1  “I AM THE TRUE VINE, AND MY FATHER IS THE VINEDRESSER.”

Yes!  JESUS is the true vine and the only vine that will sustain us.  HE will sustain us especially during dark and dry seasons of life because when we stay connected, HE remains and stays connected to us……..always.

When we feel far from the VINE it is us who have moved or are preoccupied, turning our minds on other things of this world…….but JESUS hasn’t moved from us at all because the VINE always sustains.

THE SECRET OF THE VINE IS JESUS.

As Christians we may go through a dormant period, just like trees and shrubs do, but we are still connected to HIS all sustaining grace and love.  HE remains alongside us and with us in all things…..

JOHN 15: 4  “JUST AS A BRANCH IS UNABLE TO PRODUCE FRUIT BY ITSELF UNLESS IT REMAINS ON THE VINE, NEITHER CAN YOU UNLESS YOU REMAIN IN ME.  I AM THE VINE, YOU ARE THE BRANCHES.”

The branches are worthless without the VINE.  Unless we remain connected in HIM, we become hard-hearted and dead in our faith walks, not producing any fruit.

There is nothing better than fresh grapes sweet and juicy, and there is nothing better than the sustaining VINE of JESUS!

Stay connected to HIM who sustains you, it’s the only way you can produce any kind of fruit in life.  Let’s remember the fruits of the Spirit are: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.

JESUS IS THE PURE VINE……..WE ARE HIS BRANCHES.  CONNECT WITH HIM TODAY AND WATCH THE WONDERFUL FRUIT HE PRODUCES IN YOU!

JOHN 15: 5  “THE ONE WHO REMAINS IN ME AND I IN HIM PRODUCES MUCH FRUIT, BECAUSE YOU CAN DO NOTHING WITHOUT ME.”

    1. It is such a beautiful place……GOD’S hand is there for sure. It is just a day drive for me up there and can have lunch or dinner and back home that night! Love to get away there! Stay on the VINE!!

  1. Without Jesus, we would, indeed, be dead. He is my vine, my root, my sustenance, my living water.
It’s a funny thought to envision branches wrestling against their vine. But, in going with the metaphor, I would say that, when I wrestle against my True Vine, I create tears and breaks. I’m not able to absorb as much nutrient as I usually get. My grapes become withered. But confession is like plant tape. I get re-attached to my Vine, and become healthier and more vibrant as I receive His nourishment and water. He heals and makes new.
I love your posts, Maxine – you always make me dig a little deeper in my Spiritual Walk.

    1. Thanks dear Kathy! So agree about the “tears and breaks” and how we become fruitless……isn’t it so wonderful that we can always “re-attach” to our VINE! Stay rooted there my friend! Blessings to you too!
