OBEDIENCE TOO COSTLY?

I have to wonder why so many people push GOD away……is it because they are unaware of their sin, know GOD is there and choose to go their own way?

I came across this scripture yesterday and it made me ponder where I am in my own obedience to the LORD and I hope it will cause you to examine where you are on your present journey.

ISAIAH 66: 2  “THIS IS THE LORD’S DECLARATION.  I WILL LOOK FAVORABLY ON THIS KIND OF PERSON, ONE WHO IS HUMBLE, SUBMISSIVE IN SPIRIT, AND TREMBLES AT MY WORD.”

It’s funny how when you give your heart to JESUS, that the things you used to love, now you hate and what you used to hate, now you love!  How does this happen?  Could it be that GOD is doing a “good thing” within us?  HE does that transformation of heart and mind in such a way that we want to become more obedient.

Being humble does not come easily to us, no we are a prideful, stubborn people and we want our own way, not HIS way!  Over time in our faith journeys, GOD does something amazing within us to the point where our desire changes and we want to be humble and submissive to the GOD OF HEAVEN.

NOT OUR WILL LORD, BUT YOURS!

It is easy to say you follow JESUS, but to submit to HIS will and not yours is a whole different thing!  When we start asking GOD into all situations with this:  “what would YOU have me do LORD?”  then, there has been some transformation going on!  And this is a good and wonderful thing!  Praise GOD for this!  HE is not going to leave you the way HE found you!

ROMANS 8: 28  “AND WE KNOW THAT FOR THOSE WHO LOVE GOD ALL THINGS WORK TOGETHER FOR GOOD, FOR THOSE WHO ARE CALLED ACCORDING TO HIS PURPOSE.”

So if GOD works everything for our good, why wouldn’t we want to obey HIM!!  Just knowing that HE knows our outcome as HIS sons and daughters is a comfort.  HE knows us better than we know ourselves.  As we submit to this thought and release our lives into HIS capable hands, we can rest and have freedom in HIM and trust HIM with all things.

GOD WORKS IN US AND COMPLETES US ALL FOR HIS GLORY!

In the light of eternity then, being obedient becomes less of a cost and more of a want, more of a deep desire.  We want to listen, we want to study HIS word, we want to share our testimonies and we want to share HIS Gospel for the Kingdom!

Remember the first scripture I mentioned?  Let us be a people that trembles at HIS word!  How many people today and even pastors are disregarding HIS word and what it says.  If anyone preaches to you that you can ignore some of what HIS word says, know this is an obvious falsehood and not from GOD!

THE MORE WE READ SCRIPTURE, THE MORE WE SHOULD REALIZE IT’S AMAZING WORTH, SO MUCH SO, THAT IN OUR INNER BEING WE SHOULD TREMBLE BEFORE IT.

LUKE 11:35  “MAKE SURE THAT THE LIGHT YOU THINK YOU HAVE IS NOT ACTUALLY DARKNESS.”

This is why humbling yourself and submitting to the LORD and trembling before HIS word is so vital to our Christian maturity!  So keep going Christian……keep persevering, keep submitting to all HE asks of you.  Of course there are days we fail, but HIS mercies are new each morning!  And what happens when we do this every single day according to the LORD our GOD?

ISAIAH 66: 2 “I WILL LOOK FAVORABLY ON THIS KIND OF PERSON.”

  1. Oh, Lord, may I ever tremble at Your Word!
I love what you said: “being obedient becomes less of a cost and more of a want, more of a deep desire.”
SO TRUE! When God’s Love is in us, He is our deepest desire.
You know I love the blessings of obedience!

  2. Thank you so much for your Blog! I love this post! It’s such a good reminder! I hope you are doing great and enjoying sweet Emma! Please send lots of pix! Last night there was only 4 of us: Tony/Jeanne/Kerry/me. We pretty much just chatted and then discussed the Piper message that Jeanne just sent out. Are you going to be able to come to my Brunch? If you need a ride, maybe Kerri or Kayelynn can pick you up? Love and hugs, Jayne
