A NOTE FOR YOU

We are planning a trip to Utah……we leave today.  And since I will be gone this next Tuesday, I am planning on just a small break.  Honestly, all my free time on vacation will go to reading and writing.  And so I will miss you here, but know dear reader, I haven’t forgotten you!

It is a habit for me to think, ponder and write alongside the LORD.  HE has much to teach us, so let us never stop listening.  I wanted to leave with you these words.  It is a hymn I found at the end of a book called: GOD’S GRACE IN YOUR SUFFERING by David Powlison.  Let these words wash over you in this coming week……

“How firm a foundation, you saints of the LORD,

is laid for your faith in HIS excellent Word!

What more can HE say than to you HE has said,

to you who for refuge to JESUS have fled?

Fear not, I am with you, O be not dismayed;

for I am your GOD, and will still give you aid;

I’ll strengthen you, help you, and cause you to stand,

upheld by MY righteous, omnipotent hand.

When through the deep waters I call you to go,

the rivers of sorrow shall not overflow;

for I will be with you, your troubles to bless,

and sanctify to you your deepest distress.

When through fiery trials your pathway shall lie,

My grace, all-sufficient, shall be your supply;

the flame shall not hurt you; I only design

your dross to consume and your gold to refine.

E’en down to old age all My people shall prove

My sovereign, eternal, unchangeable love;

and when hoary hairs shall their temples adorn,

like lambs they shall still in My bosom be borne.

The soul that on JESUS has leaned for repose,

I will not, I will not desert to his foes;

that soul, though all hell should endeavor to shake,

I’ll never, no never, no never forsake.”

Be blessed by these words through this week.  Keep your focus on our Almighty GOD.  Abide continually with HIM. Do this because our GOD is true to all of HIS promises for you.  Blessings all!

PSALM 40: 11 “DO NOT WITHHOLD YOUR TENDER MERCIES FROM ME, O LORD; LET YOUR LOVINGKINDNESS AND YOUR TRUTH CONTINUALLY PRESERVE ME.”

LOOK FOR MY NEXT POST ON TUESDAY, MAY 11th.

  2. Enjoy Utah – what a gorgeous place! When my sister and I took a trip and decided one day at a time – or let God decide (We got out the map and the weather report each morning and headed to where the rain WASN’T.) – we were taken up into Utah. Bryce Canyon, Zion National Park, etc. Breathtaking! Take lots of pictures! 😊

  3. Wonderful! God bless you and those with you, on your trip. Soak in the beauty of God’s creation, and rest thyself in Him.
    I love that hymn, ‘How Firm a Foundation.’ All those great old hymns with God’s truth really speak to my heart.

    1. Glad you liked the hymn Renee. Utah was a gorgeous place, filled with HIS beauty. GOD’S hand is so evident in the Western landscape. Thanks for your sweet wishes!

  4. While growing up we sang that hymn in church often. And now I know why the adults sang with such gusto. I had no clue. I had not been through the kinds of hardship I have by now. It just seemed to go on forever (the hymn) and I didn’t give the words the attention they deserved. I haven’t read it in decades. It now has a whole new meaning. Thanks for posting. Glad your trip was wonderful.
