LIVES OF LIGHT

Recently I read this statement:  don’t let your life be a rerun.  I have always thought that the hardest part about life was the daily grind of it all.   I never did well in an office setting with the days being the same and the job being from 9 to 5.  I guess that is why I survived teaching figure skating in an ice rink for so many years.  My schedule was different every single day.  My days didn’t bleed into one another and even my weekends with competitions changed everything up.

There is something deep within us to live our lives to the fullest.  There is a hope and a true forward motion.  GOD’S word is full of hope for us and when we wake in the morning there is a thought of a new day, a different day from the last and a sincere hope that today will be even better than yesterday.

PROVERBS 13: 12  “HOPE DEFERRED MAKES THE HEART SICK, BUT A DESIRE FULFILLED IS A TREE OF LIFE.”

Lives lived in darkness have no hope.  Lives lived without GOD in them are hopeless for sure.  They become a rerun of hopelessness.  There is no light to guide them, only the dark.

1 JOHN 1:5  “……..THAT GOD IS LIGHT AND IN HIM IS NO DARKNESS AT ALL.”

It is in our nature to be drawn to the light.  Even the smallest of creatures are drawn to the flame!

1 JOHN 2: 8  “……..IT IS A NEW COMMANDMENT THAT I AM WRITING TO YOU, WHICH IS TRUE IN HIM AND IN YOU, BECAUSE THE DARKNESS IS PASSING AWAY AND THE TRUE LIGHT IS ALREADY SHINING.”

We can let the hopelessness overcome us and live out our days as a rerun or we can run to the flame……..the light of JESUS CHRIST.

It’s amazing how one small flame can be seen many miles away……how that light shines in the darkness.

Yes, seeing the light is possible because in the beginning GOD made the light in the Heavens for all to see and HE saw that the light was good.  I think it is interesting that the Bible mentions that……the light was good.  How often do we gaze in the night sky upon the bright stars that were put there by the Creator, the Creator of light.

1 GENESIS 17-18  ” AND GOD SET THEM IN THE EXPANSE OF THE HEAVENS TO GIVE LIGHT ON THE EARTH, TO RULE OVER THE DAY AND OVER THE NIGHT, AND TO SEPARATE THE LIGHT FROM THE DARKNESS.  AND GOD SAW THAT IT WAS GOOD.”

There is through JESUS CHRIST, always hope, a living hope!  And there is always light that shines in any dark places we may have.

JOHN 1: 5  “THE LIGHT SHINES IN THE DARKNESS, AND THE DARKNESS HAS NOT OVERCOME IT.”

No, the darkness, cannot overcome the light, not now and not ever.  Let HIS light shine upon any fear, any worry and any trouble you may have.  Draw near to the flame of HIS love today, and watch those worries and troubles disappear.

DRAW NEAR TO THE FLAME OF HIS LOVE AND HE WILL DRAW NEAR TO YOU!

When we draw near to the light, we live lives of light and then those around us are also drawn to that light.  So let’s ask ourselves daily if we are living lives of light or are we stuck in a rerun of sorts.  Today, has our light shined on anyone?  Have we given anyone the light of hope?  Let’s walk in the light of hope, because JESUS is that light shining brightly for others to see. HE is the light now and today, and for every tomorrow that comes!

ISAIAH 49: 6  “I WILL MAKE YOU AS A LIGHT FOR THE NATIONS, THAT MY SALVATION MAY REACH TO THE END OF THE EARTH.”

    1. Thank you Kathy…….your sweet comment made my day for sure. HE is light and HE is so good all the time! Recently in one of our Pastor’s sermons he talked about how we see faith in others and how that is true evidence of GOD. I see HIS Hope, Water and Light in you too!

  1. My spirit is blessed by this post, Maxine. Somehow, reading that God said that the light is good just hit me in a new way here in your post even though I’ve read those words so many times. I’m thinking about the times I have driven all around the U.S. itinerating as a missionary visiting the churches that support us. After driving all day into the night, when we are traveling long stretches of freeway in the darkness, how beautiful and welcoming are the twinkling lights of a town in the distance!

  2. Agree with you Jennifer! I looked at “light” differently too that GOD said it is good. I had read it many times before too! Isn’t it wonderful that the light in the distance can be such a comfort!! Blessings dear one. May HIS light shine upon you!
