SOMEONE COMPLETELY DIFFERENT

If you walk closely with JESUS and know HE is your LORD and SAVIOR, then over time you should be able to look in the mirror and “see” someone different.  You are different from the rest of the world because you are chosen by GOD to be HIS beloved.  You are different because the Holy Spirit dwells within you and you are slowly being transformed into HIS image.

Now this difference, this transformation, occurs very differently for all.  For some that difference may have come as a complete turn around.  Some can tell you the exact moment and time JESUS grasped them from their sins.

And for some, this transformation may have come slowly but steady in a quiet but distinct shift in attitudes, behaviors, life choices etc.  Which are you?  I’m not saying we are better than anyone else, because we still sin and live in the flesh.  But GOD in HIS amazing power has changed our inner selves to someone different……..a someone who still lives in the world, but is not of the world.  He or she lives for CHRIST.  They live in an upside down economy……GOD’S economy,

CHRIST asks us to throw off our old selves and put on someone new, someone different.  We are not perfect mind you, only JESUS IS, but our inner being is transformed in such a way that this new different version of ourselves is all in for JESUS and only JESUS.  We are better because of HIS touch.  And this new and different someone is abiding deeply in HIS word of truth, trusts it and has a passionate desire to understand all the wisdom GOD’S truth reveals.

PROVERBS 3: 5 “TRUST IN THE LORD WITH ALL YOUR HEART……”

I know a someone different.  We met one day while I was out in front of my house pulling weeds. She walked by and I asked if she walked regularly and we decided right then to walk together.  Our conversation quickly turned to all things GOD!  As of today, we have connected on a deep spiritual level and we even do home Bible studies together.  My someone different is my friend:  KIM.

Over these past few years I have watched GOD transform my friend into a deeper heartfelt walk with HIM.  Her walk with GOD is rich and deep and abiding.  She is now, through HIS word, someone different than when I first met her.

1 PETER 1: 6 “YOU REJOICE IN THIS, EVEN THOUGH NOW FOR A SHORT TIME, IF NECESSARY, YOU SUFFER GRIEF IN VARIOUS TRIALS.

SO PLEASE WELCOME MY SOMEONE DIFFERENT.  In our recent study together, she shared with me a poem she wrote while facing fear up in a storm in the clouds on an airplane.  Fear gripped Kim when the turbulence began, but GOD sustained her.  Walking close with GOD does that! Walking close with GOD transforms and provides peace of heart and mind.  Notice how through Kim’s words and writing, GOD transformed her fear thoughts into joyful thoughts!

I asked her if she would share what she wrote with us.  If you can, be kind and leave her an encouraging comment if your time allows.  I was touched by her words and I pray you will be too!

JOY THROUGH THE STORM
by Kimberly Cole Lombardo

A JOYFUL HEART
WHAT DOES THAT MEAN
I’M SO SCARED AND TROUBLED AT WHAT LIES BEFORE ME

STORMS LOOM OUT IN THE DISTANCE
AND THE WORLD CAVES IN BEFORE ME I BEGIN TO SCREAM
ALL ALONE WITH MY THOUGHTS FAR FROM RIGHT THINKING
THIS NEWS I’VE NOT HEARD YET I CANNOT BARE.

ANXIOUS AND WORRIED
IS THIS REALLY HAPPENING
WE’VE BEEN THROUGH SO MUCH LORD
WHY AGAIN…..

YOU SAY YOU WILL NEVER GIVE ME MORE THAN I CAN HANDLE
AND I DO KNOW THIS TO BE TRUE
AS YOU’VE BROUGHT ME THROUGH SO MUCH BEFORE
BUT TODAY I DOUBT AS IT’S JUST TOO REAL
OH WHERE IS MY JOY THROUGH THIS NEW STORM I FEEL

THEN I HEAR YOU SAY LORD……
“LEAN NOT UNTO YOUR OWN UNDERSTANDING”
“FOR THE JOY OF THE LORD IS YOUR STRENGTH
YOU MUST NOT BE DEJECTED AND SAD”

There is no other way…….

FOR I LOVE YOU DEAR CHILD AND NO REASON TO DOUBT
TRUST ME AND ME ALONE IN YOUR MOMENTS OF FEAR
FOR I HAVE CONQUERED IT BEFORE YOU WERE NEAR

THERE IS WONDERFUL JOY AHEAD EVEN THOUGH THE GOING MAY BE ROUGH
YOUR FAITH IN ME YOU WILL FIND YOUR REFUGE
TO BRING YOU THROUGH WHAT SEEMS THE END
CONQUERING TOGETHER SO YOUR HEART IS RIGHT
JOYFUL AND GLAD THROUGH THE STORM AS IT’S CLEARING……

May we all desire to be GOD’S someone different.  Let us not walk as the rest of the world.  Let us walk counter-cultural.  Live vertical, always looking up.  Because it’s ok to be different because GOD sees you just as you are:   HIS child……someone different.

PSALM 141: 8 “BUT MY EYES ARE TOWARD YOU, O GOD, MY LORD; IN YOU I SEEK REFUGE; LEAVE ME NOT DEFENSELESS!”

NEHEMIAH 8: 10 “AND DO NOT BE GRIEVED, FOR THE JOY OF THE LORD IS YOUR STRENGTH.”

  1. Kim’s poem blessed me. It’s hard to see beyond the circumstances and fear because we have a physical perspective. But GOD. God gives us His perspective, asks that we hold onto Him through the trials, then proves Himself faithful – beyond faithful, as He not only carries us through, but blesses us with more strength and joy on the other side.
    Psalm 141: 8 – oh, YES! 😊

    1. Thanks Kathy…….her words rang true with me too!! But GOD! That has been said much around me just this past week! HE comes into our situation and takes control when we feel out of control yes? HE is so GOOD and yet so faithful. YES LORD: Leave us not defenseless! Thanks for your comment Kathy. Kim will appreciate!

  2. Oh, my, what a beautiful, powerful poem! Thank you for sharing Kim’s words here as well as your own encouraging insights. I long to look at my image and see less and less me, more and more Christ. Becoming that someone different has been quite a journey for me and not done yet, by any means. Yet, so grateful for how far He’s brought me. Blessings to you and looking forward to reading more posts. ☺

    1. Thank you for visiting! Yes let us have more of HIM and less of ourselves. Cause it’s not about us is it!! No we are still transforming, as the LORD sees fit and will continue to become someone different until the day we die. So thankful though, that HIS work in us is all good! Will pass along your sweet comment to Kim!

  3. Thanks so much for sharing Kim’s poem Maxine. Her words ring so true for me at moment. I’m going through a storm of sorts now and it’s getting old. I’m patiently trying to wait it out…it’s just draining.

Then my dear friend Angie and her health issues truly has me concerned for her well being. (I just can’t let on that it worries me so, because I already know she is worried)

So I pray daily asking God to take care of both my storm and hers. Also asking for the strength to ride them out.

Kim, if by chance, you read the comments. Thank you so much for allowing Maxine to share your conversation with the Lord and what He spoke into you! It is truly a blessing. May it speak to everyone that reads it!

  4. Thanks for writing and sharing this post: “SOMEONE COMPLETELY DIFFERENT”. Yes, we are! (like snowflakes, each unique and special). You and your Friend “Kimberly” have been gifted with each other. How nice and special that is! 🙂 Thank you to Kimberly (through you) for her poem: “JOY THROUGH THE STORM”. True, we all face our own storms. Yet, there is “hope” and “faith” makes all the difference. May you and Kimberly continue to build each other up and have many years more of Friendship. Thank you for sharing your Ministry.
