In that Silent Night, long long ago, hope was born…….did you know?
Yes, in a silent hopeless night, in a hopeless world, light from Heaven came down to us in a manger and…….
ISAIAH 7: 14 “…….THE LORD HIMSELF WILL GIVE YOU A SIGN. BEHOLD, THE VIRGIN SHALL CONCEIVE AND BEAR A SON, AND SHALL CALL HIS NAME IMMANUEL.”
The LORD gave a sign long ago…….the star from the East led the wise men right to that blessed birth of hope!
MATTHEW 2:10 “WHEN THEY SAW THE STAR, THEY REJOICED EXCEEDINGLY WITH GREAT JOY.”
The Christian Standard Version of the above scripture reads like this:
MATTHEW 2: 10 “WHEN THEY SAW THE STAR, THEY WERE OVERWHELMED BY JOY.”
Let’s really think about this: when was the last time we were seriously overwhelmed by the joy and hope of JESUS? Are we only overwhelmed (if at all) this time of year and then we live the rest of the year as if CHRISTMAS never happened?
Because somewhere in that Silent Night long ago, we know that Mary and Joseph were overwhelmed. They had to wonder what GOD was doing and whether to call that blessed babe JESUS or LORD!
I do believe that they knew they were holding a promise from GOD in their arms, and an indescribable hope like none other. JESUS was their sign, JESUS was their answer; JESUS was and still is our answer today. HE came to give us a future and a hope like none other.
Somewhere in that Silent Night there was a chorus of angels singing…….
LUKE 2: 14 “GLORY TO GOD IN THE HIGHEST HEAVEN AND PEACE ON EARTH TO PEOPLE HE FAVORS.”
Long ago, those shepherds came and wanted to see…….they wanted to see a sign after the angels had visited them. They were amazed, overwhelmed for sure and decided this:
LUKE 2: 15 “LET US GO OVER TO BETHLEHEM AND SEE THIS THING THAT HAS HAPPENED, WHICH THE LORD HAS MADE KNOWN TO US.”
In this Christmas Season of 2019, we should want to “see” just like those Shepherds. We should be overwhelmed by joy, just like those Shepherds. Oh come, let us adore HIM today!
Because somewhere in that Silent Night, long ago, the LORD sent HIS only SON to come for us, to rescue us from ourselves and our sin……….HE came to redeem us.
SOMEWHERE IN THAT SILENT NIGHT:
LOVE, PEACE, HOPE AND JOY WAS BORN! A SAVIOR FOR ALL PEOPLES…..
AND HIS NAME IS……… IMMANUEL!
When we celebrate during this lovely season of lights and grace, let’s keep the joy within our hearts……..a joy for JESUS, a hope for the future and a peace that passes all understanding!
JOHN 1: 14 “AND THE WORD BECAME FLESH AND DWELT AMONG US, AND WE HAVE SEEN HIS GLORY, GLORY AS OF THE ONLY SON FROM THE FATHER, FULL OF GRACE AND TRUTH.”
