EXERCISE CAUTION

If you think about it, we all have a clear understanding of what the yellow traffic sign means when we are driving about…….caution.  When our eyes see a sign like that, we usually try to be more alert as to what is coming around the bend.

We should also have caution in our lives of faith, especially when it comes to the voices we hear.  So who are we listening to, or what are we watching, or reading and how do these many voices hold up to GOD’S truth?

This is an area where special caution is needed, because if we are not careful, we can be deceived by false teaching, or people, or anything of this world that might appear to be truth.

Sometimes we stumble, sometimes we fail and often we have too many voices telling us what should be done.  Some voices have good intentions.  But in the midst of all of this we need caution……and we need to slow down and find HIS voice.  Because it is there, crying out to us!

When we are cautious and intentional about our faith, the LORD reaches for us and says: “I’m here…….follow me.”

ISAIAH 30:21  “WHETHER YOU TURN TO THE RIGHT OR TO THE LEFT, YOUR EARS WILL HEAR A VOICE BEHIND YOU SAYING, “THIS IS THE WAY; WALK IN IT.”

The Holy Spirit has given us a conscience and a sensitivity to HIS word and HIS word alone.  The more we are in the word, the more aware we will be of the falsehoods around us.  We have to be cautious of anyone or anything that is trying to change up GOD’S truth or water it down.  GOD’S word has been tried and true through the centuries…….so changing it up, or saying this is new and different should be a big caution sign for us!

THERE ARE SO MANY VOICES AROUND US WANTING OUR ATTENTION…….CAN WE HEAR GOD’S PURE VOICE IN THE MIDST OF ALL THE CHAOS?

Every single day we should proceed with caution……..especially within our spheres of influence.  Daily we need to define and choose what and WHOM we will listen to, because if we don’t, the world will do it for us!  Don’t like what you read or hear?  Then delete it, or turn it off.  Does  what you hear align with scripture?  If not, then change what or where you are, so that you are carefully following GOD’S truth.  Why?  Because GOD’S truth is unchanging and solid as a rock and you can’t go wrong with it.  We must continuously, with caution, test everything our eyes see and what our ears hear.

PROCEED WITH CAUTION TODAY.

JESUS said this in JOHN 10:14  “I AM THE GOOD SHEPHERD.  I KNOW MY OWN AND MY OWN KNOW ME.”

When we know JESUS, we know HIS voice above all the rest…….HIS voice stands out in the chaos around us.  HIS voice is our light and our peace and especially our guide.

When we proceed with caution, not only are we aware of everything around us, but we are aware of satan’s lies to us, and can counteract his destructive ways, with scripture truth.

Some people begin their day clicking on the TV………some people choose to reach for their Bibles instead.  Starting there first is a better way.  Fill your mind with HIS word, so then you can discern what to pour into your soul.

THERE IS A DAILY BATTLE FOR OUR MINDS AND HEARTS.

But because JESUS has us securely in HIS hands, all we need to do is ask……..ask for HIS protection, HIS discernment, HIS direction, HIS mercy and HIS love.

LET US BE CAUTIOUS IN THE WORLD………BUT VERY SECURE IN HIS ARMS!

DEUTERONOMY 33:27  “THE ETERNAL GOD IS YOUR DWELLING PLACE, AND UNDERNEATH ARE THE EVERLASTING ARMS……..”

In our daily walks, we can be cautious and yet secure in GOD’S promises to us.  When we are uncertain, we have the TRUTH of HIS promises to set us right.  We need to test and see that what we are hearing or what we are reading stands the test, HIS truth test!  HIS wisdom is best and the world’s wisdom is flawed and it fails and it is compromised by satan’s deceit.

Even within our lives of caution, we are imperfect people and therefore, the only assurance we have is that JESUS came to die for us and our sins!  We are assured of our salvation, because of HIS sacrifice on the Cross for us.  Don’t be cautious here dear one!  Be assured!

Rest in this fact dear reader……..

ISAIAH 9:6  “AND HE WILL BE CALLED: WONDERFUL COUNSELOR, MIGHTY GOD, EVERLASTING FATHER, PRINCE OF PEACE.”

So move forward with steps of caution, but also with steps of assurance towards eternity because:  CHRIST DIED FOR US BECAUSE OF HIS LOVE FOR US.  HIS sacrifice on the Cross was for us because HE loves us too much to be without us.  HE knew we needed a Savior and a Redeemer. HIS word is there for us, our security of TRUTH as our continual guide.   And HE is worthy of all our steps of faith, cautious or not, we are secured in HIS faithful abundant love and assured of our salvation!

HEBREWS 11: 1 “NOW FAITH IS THE ASSURANCE OF THINGS HOPED FOR; THE CONVICTION OF THINGS NOT SEEN.”

  1. So many verses ran through my head as I read this, because it is spot on! God gives us all we need to live for Him; we must use His gifts for His glory. We must act with caution and discernment, but be bold in obedience.
1 John 1.7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
Eph 5.8 For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:
Ps 119.105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

  2. Wise words sister. I learned big time the difference between fear and caution when we lived over seas. Since I did not know the language I had to trust the Holy Spirit to speak through someone else. There were times I felt, sensed, that what my translator was saying was not what I said. When it comes to the gospel there must be clarity or you leave them trying to work their way to heaven. I think the times we live in now need more discernment and caution then I ever remember. Good post.
