NOT LIKE A ROCK

I would rather be too vulnerable than too tough.  How many of us were raised with this idea: only the tough win…….only the tough are a success in life.

I don’t know about you, but I’m kinda through with being tough.

I don’t want or need to be a “rock” and I will tell you why:

ROCKS DON’T FEEL AND ROCKS DON’T BREATHE.

EZEKIEL 36;26  “I WILL GIVE YOU A NEW HEART AND PUT A NEW SPIRIT WITHIN YOU.  I WILL TAKE THE HEART OF STONE OUT OF YOUR FLESH AND GIVE YOU A HEART OF FLESH.  I WILL PUT MY SPIRIT WITHIN YOU AND CAUSE YOU TO WALK IN MY STATUTES, AND YOU WILL KEEP MY JUDGEMENTS AND DO THEM.” NKJV

Maybe when we are vulnerable before the LORD, we surrender ourselves and allow our hearts to be broken, given and searched.  Our GOD does that……..HIS word makes us accountable for us to say:

Yes, I did that and I’m broken and sorry about it.  My heart breaks LORD.

PSALM 51: 17 “A BROKEN AND CONTRITE HEART – THESE. O GOD, YOU WILL NOT DESPISE.”

MAYBE GOD IS THE ONLY ONE YOU CAN HAND YOUR HEART TO IN PIECES AND BECAUSE OF HIS GRACE, HE MAKES YOUR HEART WHOLE AND EVEN STRONGER.

Hearts of stone never break, but a vulnerable heart does……..often.

Hearts of stone might seem strong, but a vulnerable heart can actually soar after it has been broken. It learns to soar with GOD’S love.

A vulnerable heart is a compassionate one, one that sees the hurt in others and says: “yes, me too, I have been there”.  GOD’S love seeps in through the cracks of the hurting heart and over time those cracks heal.

SHATTERED HEART PEOPLE ARE VULNERABLE PEOPLE.

BUT GOD……..gives those people the stuff their hearts need to heal.  Only GOD heals broken hearts…….nothing here on this planet can do just that.

Isn’t it amazing how GOD’S word reveals HIS tender heart towards us too:

DEUTERONOMY 4: 31 “FOR THE LORD YOUR GOD IS A MERCIFUL GOD.  HE WILL NOT LEAVE YOU OR DESTROY YOU OR FORGET THE COVENANT WITH YOUR FATHERS THAT HE SWORE TO THEM.”

Being vulnerable before the LORD strips away your pride.  The LORD looks only at the heart, sees what’s there and roots out what doesn’t belong there.  Over time I believe your heart becomes even softer, more sensitive to others around you.

GOD has a plan for HIS elect………HE sees where and how we are vulnerable and yet HE protects us and gives us the strength that only HE can give.

Our security in Heaven is what we believe in our hearts and confess with our mouths.  And unless we are vulnerable, unless we allow our hearts to break before the LORD, unless we allow HIM in, we are nothing more than a stone, trying to go our own way.

We all know someone like this……..a stone.  And how do we get through?  Actually we don’t.  Only GOD can and only HIS word can, so we need to pray for people with hearts of stone.  Stone – hearted people hurt people and put up walls that only the LORD can penetrate because………

HE STILL MOVES STONES!

AND JESUS is our true Cornerstone in all of this because…….

ISAIAH 28: 16 “THEREFORE THE LORD GOD SAID: “LOOK, I HAVE LAID A STONE IN ZION, A TESTED STONE; A PRECIOUS CORNERSTONE, A SURE FOUNDATION; THE ONE WHO BELIEVES WILL BE UNSHAKABLE.”

So yes friends, we may be vulnerable, but GOD HAS SENT HIS SON and with JESUS we will be unshakable!

1 PETER 2: 6 “SEE, I LAY A STONE IN ZION, A CHOSEN AND HONORED CORNERSTONE, AND THE ONE WHO BELIEVES IN HIM WILL NEVER BE PUT TO SHAME.”

  1. I so profited from reading this! I love your correlations and connections. God is the only One Who can manage being a Rock (Ps 18.2, Ps 19.14).
This you wrote: “And how do we get through? Actually we don’t. Only GOD can and only HIS word can.” What peace God gives us in this truth! He is the only One Who can get through to us, the only One Who can change a heart of stone into a heart of flesh. He blesses us by prompting us to share His Word, and we can receive blessing through obedience and through the possible salvation of another. As Paul noted, we can seed and water, but it is God Who brings forth the fruit.
Thank you for sharing your heart and your fruit.
