We came together, all women, at a sweet gathering at Church one evening. We sang and we worshipped together with the message for the evening being about serving one another and community.
But I also see a few women sitting alone and see the look on their faces……..brave ones. It takes courage to walk into a group, just hoping you will be seen by someone, anyone.
And I see other women hugging one another and smiling……those are the soul braves who have found one another. As I hug someone, I realize that maybe I have been brave too.
We’ve all been there before…….walking into a room of not knowing a soul. But we all have so much in common too…….being broken and scarred. We need one another more than we realize…….we need each other to help each other be brave.
As women, we may be crumbling inside, but we have learned to put on a brave face no matter what! Life does that to us, it breaks us but, JESUS CHRIST is there and HE finds just the right way to remake us and redirect us. HE gives us just what we need at the right time that we need to be brave.
HE renews us and comforts us through the Body of Christ. We are given each other to help one another, not to tear one another down. The Body stands as one with the Father of all comfort, mercy and grace.
The priority of the Body of Christ is vertical, where the brave and the broken come together and worship JESUS and are filled with the HOLY SPIRIT so that they may serve each other and the community as well.
1 CORINTHIANS 15: 58 “THEREFORE, MY BELOVED BRETHREN, BE STEADFAST, IMMOVABLE, ALWAYS ABOUNDING IN THE WORK OF THE LORD, KNOWING THAT YOUR LABOR IS NOT IN VAIN IN THE LORD.”
LET’S BE BRAVE TOGETHER.
Because CHRIST died for us, we learn to die to self and then put our bravery into action. We become bold for CHRIST and the GOSPEL. And our labor is never in vain.
ROMANS 8:31 “WHAT THEN SHALL WE SAY ABOUT THESE THINGS? IF GOD IS FOR US , WHO IS AGAINST US?”
Some of us are surviving some real trials, some real tribulations. We may be beaten down for a time, but because of GOD and HIS strength, we come out of those trials better for it and we gain some bravery along the way.
Truly deep down, none of us are brave. No, only with the Spirit’s help can we be brave…….brave to face another day, brave to face the cancer diagnosis, brave to stand alone in a crowd, brave to be the one who does the right thing when no one else will.
Yes, only the Holy Spirit guides us, corrects us, directs us, but then sends us! Thank goodness the Spirit sends us and equips us………oh those brave ones who need to hear this! Maybe it’s you. Maybe it’s a friend. Pass your bravery onto them…….sometimes we need to be brave for one another right in the midst of of their struggles.
Remember those sweet souls I saw sitting alone? Well, after worship, we all gathered together into one room for a service project for our Church. We sat side by side, hands working together, helping one another, reaching out…….being brave. And the best part of the evening was looking around and seeing no one alone, no one having to put on a brave face, but only faces of loving acceptance, pure laughter and yes much joy. Yes, bravery does that! Yes, bravery looks like a room filled with sweet souls all coming together to honor JESUS CHRIST!
JESUS makes us brave…….HE makes us bold, HIS arms surround us and lift us and send us out into the world. But most of all, HIS strength and love redeems us so we can all live just a little more brave to face another day, walking out the GOSPEL for the ONE who died just for us!
PSALM 138: 3 “ON THE DAY I CALLED, YOU ANSWERED ME; YOU EMBOLDENED ME AND STRENGTHENED MY SOUL.”
