YOU ARE SAFE HERE

Because of the world spinning out of control lately, my thoughts turn to how and where in the world do I find safety?

Home is always a sanctuary for most and we tend to feel safe within our four walls.  But what about when you step out into the world beyond your home?

Safety can mean physically safe, mentally safe and spiritually safe.  Your family will make you feel safe, but not always and the true fellowship of a solid Church family will and can surround you with the safety of the LORD.  Depending upon our circumstances, our Church family means “safe”.

If you would ask me what I want out in the world, whether it be around friends, or at Church, I would say I want a safe place to land.  What about you?  Don’t we all yearn for that and seek that safe place to be, to be loved and accepted and honored for who we are and never judged?

My Molly pup is a picture of feeling perfectly safe and perfectly content when she crawls under the kitchen table when we are eating.  And even after the dishes are cleared and washed she still remains, not wanting to move……..sometimes I wish I could crawl under there with her!

Where is your safe place and who is it with?  Is your safety defined by your surroundings or by someone, or ultimately is your safe place in the arms of GOD?

Feeling safe and being safe are two different things.  I don’t know about you, but I want them both.  And I want them both at the same time too!

Where do we turn for ultimate safety?  Isn’t it in the LORD’S arms?  Didn’t David find his security and safety in the LORD?  He is our example of where to go for safety.

“PSALM 7: 1 “O LORD MY GOD, IN YOU DO I TAKE REFUGE.”

IF YOU THINK ON IT, SAFETY ISN’T ANYWHERE OR WITH ANYONE, BUT IT IS ONLY FOUND IN THE ONE WHO DIED A PERFECT DEATH FOR YOURS AND MY SIN. OUR SOULS ARE HELD SECURELY IN HIS ARMS.

I desire to rest in HIS everlasting arms……..I crave it and close my eyes and imagine me sitting on CHRIST’S lap with HIS very capable arms around me.   Right there is my safety.  HE cups my face and says it will be ok my beloved.

DEUTERONOMY 33: 27 “THE ETERNAL GOD IS YOUR DWELLING PLACE, AND UNDERNEATH ARE THE EVERLASTING ARMS.”

When the body of CHRIST is together and HE is in our midst, then there is fellowship with the broken and weary and there is safety too.  As we exchange glances with one another, our eyes shed HIS light and our hearts say: you are safe here.

Our souls long for it, a safe way and a safe place with the ONE who holds us in HIS hands……..secure there.  HE knows all our stories and brokenness and HE sends us to find one another; to find a safe place.

PROVERBS 18: 10 “THE NAME OF THE LORD IS A STRONG TOWER; THE RIGHTEOUS MAN RUNS INTO IT AND IS SAFE.”

May we live fully in HIS grace that extends to each other making a safer way, a safe space for each other.  This cannot be done alone……..you are not alone!  Safety is not found by isolating yourself, it is found in fellowship with one another and with the LORD.

The LORD designed HIS plan for us to find perfect safety in HIM………HIS will is for us to find safety with one another as we walk our paths hand in hand to our final eternal home.

How and where do you feel safe these days?  Would love to hear.  But I pray we will all feel HIS safe arms around us, each and every day.  Because when we have JESUS, we are never alone and we are always held in peace and safety.

PSALM 4: 9 “IN PEACE I WILL BOTH LIE DOWN AND SLEEP FOR YOU ALONE, O LORD, MAKE ME DWELL IN SAFETY.”

  1. Proverbs 18.10 is what came to mind as I began to read your post, and I was delighted to see it included.
Our concept of safe is not the same as our Lord’s (His ways are not our ways, neither are our thoughts His thoughts). For me, “safe” equates to peace, having no fear. As you, that place is in my Father’s Hands. Whatever befall, I am His, and He is mine! I was reading in Acts 27 this morning, thinking of Paul and his voyage and shipwreck. He had peace. He KNEW his life was in God’s Hands. May I ever have such peace.

    1. Thanks Kathy……..agree that HIS peace that goes beyond all understanding is our safe place! Thanks for the scripture reference of Acts. Paul seemed to just abide closely with the LORD, no matter where or whatever circumstance he was in with the LORD’S peace. And peace be with you too dear Kathy today and every day.

  2. I find it very funny that the place God taught us to be safe in Him was when we were wandering about homeless. It is surprising that when you have nothing, no one to rely on, and no where to go, you tend to feel a bit vulnerable. Not sure why that is. 😉 But in that place of fragility we found that Jesus was there with us. He truly is our safe place. Even though we have no physical home He is our safe tower. No matter what we face, whether it be sleeping in a snowbank, threatened with death by drunks, being thrown outside in winter, or having all of our belongings taken…again, we know we are in safe place.

    Great post.

    1. Thank you for your wonderful insight and so glad JESUS IS your safe place. JESUS is there with us no matter where we are, or our circumstances. When we all feel vulnerable HE is right there with us because HE says HE will never leave us! Stand on that promise! Let me know if you need any prayers too. Blessings to you today.
