SPIRITUAL WEALTH

These days my son carries around his Bible like it is a piece of gold.  He is immersed in the everlasting truth and understanding the value of GOD’S word:  priceless!

Wherever you are right now in your faith walk I want you to ponder this……..are you living spiritual wealthy or like a pauper?

Only the spiritual wealthy understand GOD’S wisdom for them.

Only the spiritual wealthy understand GOD’S grace for them.

Only the spiritual wealthy know of GOD’S amazing, indescribable gifts and promises written down long ago by the Saints and saved until today just for us!

Our true wealth is not in material things.  We can’t buy enough or save enough to be happy and content, living with purpose.  Only GOD’S word and the application of it gives us the abundant life we seek with whole heart.

PSALM 119: 18 “OPEN MY EYES THAT I MAY SEE WONDERFUL THINGS IN YOUR LAW.”

A soul that seeks and then finds is spiritual wealthy!  A soul that asks the Holy Spirit to lead and guide and discover is content to marinate in the Holy Scriptures.

PSALM 119: 27 “LET ME UNDERSTAND THE TEACHING OF YOUR PRECEPTS; THEN I WILL MEDITATE ON YOUR WONDERS.”

Only the spiritual wealthy have had their hearts set free……..free from past sin, free from bondage to sin and free from answering to the world.  Their wealth is in JESUS CHRIST and they seek HIM above all else because HE sits on the throne of their lives.

I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to be a pauper……..I want to be rich in JESUS!  And how often does doubt get in our way?  How often do we trust one day, then doubt the next?

If we are uncertain of the true treasure of HIS word, then we must continue to read and read it again.  The HOLY SPIRIT will give us just the right amount of understanding we need on any particular day.  Ever have where a scripture passage or verse jumps off the page when you know you have read that passage before?  Why is that?

PSALM 119: 127  “BECAUSE I LOVE YOUR COMMANDS MORE THAN GOLD, MORE THAN PURE GOLD.”

Let us ask the SPIRIT to daily enlighten us and help us to see the treasure in every verse!

PSALM 119: 162 “I REJOICE IN YOUR WORD LIKE ONE WHO DISCOVERS A GREAT TREASURE.”

We must trust that the HOLY SPIRIT will help us understand what we can’t…….many will say “I don’t read my Bible because it is too hard to understand.”  Have you asked GOD to reveal HIMSELF in HIS word to you?  If your translation is too difficult to understand, try another one.  Sooner or later the WORD will speak to you and when it does, your whole world will open and take on new meaning!

Spiritual wealth is what GOD intended for us……..HE has supplied it, so make sure your Bible isn’t sitting on a shelf collecting dust.  A well read Bible is a well worn Bible.  The WORD’S guidance and all of GOD’S promises for us should be precious to us like the psalmist said…….

PSALM 119: 72  “INSTRUCTION FROM YOUR LIPS IS BETTER FOR ME THAN THOUSANDS OF GOLD AND SILVER PIECES.”

My family is not rich in the way the world views rich, but every morning when I reach for my Bible and set it upon my lap, I know I am holding pure gold, a rich treasure that enriches my soul.  How wonderful to know we have such spiritual wealth within our reach when there are many  the world over who have never seen a Bible!  All we need to do is to read GOD’S wisdom, understand and live it out, all for our Savior who died to save the world!  Let us realize that the GOSPEL gives us spiritual wealth that goes beyond anything here on earth……..and may we be grateful for GOD giving us HIS SON to die for our sins!

PSALM 119: 81 “MY SOUL FAINTS FOR YOUR SALVATION, BUT I HOPE IN YOUR WORD.”

  1. I agree that the best things in life truly are free and not in material things! Through a relationship with God, we can see this more clearly. Happiness in the things like relationships and providing for others is actually even scientifically supported by the field of positive psychology, which is what I write about in my own blog posts. I believe that with a complement of a faith background and the perspective of positive psychology, one can become closer to a life of meaning and fulfillment. Feel free to check out my own blog posts on this topic and leave any contributions that you would like, I think you would find it very interesting. Keep up the good work!
