BE THE BREAD!

When we take Communion as a united Church Body, I remember all the times I have seen communion done with breaking actual bread just as CHRIST must have done with HIS disciples……

AND HE BROKE BREAD……..

As I look around the Church, I realize that everyone around me is broken……..and isn’t there this unspoken broken in all of us?  How often do we reply we are ok when we really are not!

Being broken and needing the bread and the cup, but especially the CROSS is a healer.  And so we do Communion as a reverent reminder of what CHRIST did for us.

and let us always remember

Because CHRIST redeems, restores and renews………because HE is the bread…….

LUKE 22: 19 “AND HE TOOK BREAD, AND WHEN HE HAD GIVEN THANKS, HE BROKE IT AND GAVE IT TO THEM SAYING, “THIS IS MY BODY, WHICH IS GIVEN FOR YOU.  DO THIS IN REMEMBRANCE OF ME.”

And so, we remember…….we remember because we need the bread every day.  Because “this is my daily bread.”  And we are thankful.

If JESUS is our daily bread, how much more should we be the bread for one another?

If we share in communion with one another as the church body, how can we not have communion with those around us?  We need to be with one another.

BE THE BREAD.

Being broken ourselves, requires us to be the givers and healers to someone else who is broken. And so this is the case of living a Cross-shaped life that requires much love, just as CHRIST loved us.

JESUS and HIS body was broken for us………as a CHURCH body, let’s remember HIM as we walk in our worlds around us.

And let’s embrace what CHRIST did on that Cross, let’s remember with the breaking of the bread and let’s remember and be reverent when we do come to the Cross.  Don’t mock it.  Remember.

Because thank you dear LORD JESUS………that YOU remembered us!

GALATIANS 6: 14 “MAY I NEVER BOAST EXCEPT IN THE CROSS OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST THROUGH WHICH THE WORLD HAS BEEN CRUCIFIED TO ME, AND I TO THE WORLD.

1 CORINTHIANS 1: 18 “FOR THE MESSAGE OF THE CROSS IS FOOLISHNESS TO THOSE WHO ARE PERISHING, BUT TO US WHO ARE BEING SAVED IT IS THE POWER OF GOD.”

  1. Bread is a good thanksgiving trigger.
A good friend of mine introduced me to “prayer triggers” – everyday items we see or do, paired with a specific prayer need. (“When you go to the bathroom, remember Marge, whose hip hurts when she has to sit on the toilet!”)
I can remember to gives thanks to my Lord and Savior when I see bread. 🍞
