ONE WORD……..ONE GOD!

Do you choose a word to focus on for a full year?  Pray about it and GOD will reveal one to you.  HE is faithful that way.  Many years ago I quit doing resolutions because I just didn’t keep them after February and by April they were a distant memory!

My very first word many years ago was ABIDE…….GOD revealed the word to me after I had prayed about it.  Over and over again I found this word repeated in scripture and I saw it in stores and on placques.  I couldn’t help but notice it’s profound presence and so I adopted the word for a full year asking GOD to show me what it meant to abide with HIM.  

I found the word and placed it on my office wall…..so as to not forget, and I don’t forget now and embrace all that it means to abide with the LORD.  I learned much that year, having a teachable spirit.  It was funny how by the end of the year I didn’t want to let my word go, but I needed to so that GOD would show me the next one: GLORIFY.

Here I am several years later still choosing words, still searching and learning what GOD wants me to know.  And with each year I see growth and an understanding much deeper, because I have embraced a particular word for one full year.  My resolutions never did that for me!

I know GOD knows that I am aware and searching for HIS wisdom in a new word and to be careful when I chose.  But when I see and read and find a word repeating itself, then I cannot ignore it.

JOHN 16:24 “ASK, USING MY NAME, AND YOU WILL RECEIVE, AND YOU WILL HAVE ABUNDANT JOY.”

This past year has taught me all about GOD’S abundance.   HIS love, grace and mercy for all of us goes beyond our understanding, but it is there every day and in every way.  My heart has been broken in several ways this past year, but GOD has shown me that when a heart breaks, over time, that one broken heart is filled with HIS gracious abundant love……..a healing love that is more patient and kind than any human love.  What a joy it is to know that HIS love never ends……..HIS love for us, will never leave us.

PSALM 5:7 “BUT I ENTER YOUR HOUSE BY THE ABUNDANCE OF YOUR FAITHFUL LOVE.” 

GOD has an abundant supply of all good things for us……..because of HIS nature which is to abundantly bless us!  HE turns any mourning into joy and sorrow into comfort!  Oh to know and receive the LORD’S good and perfect gifts!

JEREMIAH 31: 14 “……..AND MY PEOPLE WILL FEAST ON MY GOOD GIFTS.  I, THE LORD, HAVE SPOKEN.”

Because of HIS good gifts for us, one of them being discernment, I am sure again of my word choice for this year:  ADORE.

To adore means to love and respect deeply.  I am anxious to go on this journey this year and see how GOD increases my worship and adoration of HIM.  

Once one knows that there is only one true good and loving GOD, how could one not glorify and adore HIM?

I pray this year will give me a deeper understanding of what it means to adore GOD with all my heart and soul.  And prayers for you too, dear reader that your word search will be fruitful.  If you haven’t chosen yet, it is not too late.  Try it, and you will find how good GOD is in helping you embrace a particular word that fits and speaks volumes into your life!
