AS WITH OTHER MATTERS

If in our Christian walk, we walk out the very things JESUS wants us to, then we will know that what matters to HIM, will matter to us!

PSALM 119: 10 “WITH MY WHOLE HEART I SEEK YOU; LET ME NOT WANDER FROM YOUR COMMANDMENTS.”

May we not only read scripture and JESUS’S words to us, but may we embrace and internalize those words.  Let us be in tune with our sins and our weaknesses, but at the same time, let us be strong and determined to reorganize and prioritize what matters to GOD.

What truly matters to you?  I challenge you to make a list and you can be completely honest, because no one will see except you and GOD.  When you have completed it, ask yourself this……..

so this matters to me, but does it matter to HIM?

All we have to do is open our BIBLE and there is plenty there telling us what matters to GOD.  HIS words should be upon our hearts as we go through our days.

Recently in a group setting, a woman said that she is very political.  I had to stop and think if I were to make that statement about myself, what would I say?  Certainly not that because I totally trust that GOD is in control of our world.  So how do you finish this statement?

I am very……….what?

I realized that I could finish that sentence in a number of ways, but my favorite is this: that I am very passionate about GOD’S word!  And I do believe HE is too!  What matters to me is HIS promises for us, HIS forgiveness, HIS truth and HIS prophecy. 

PSALM 12: 6 “THE WORDS OF THE LORD ARE PURE WORDS, LIKE SILVER REFINED IN A FURNACE ON THE GROUND, PURIFIED SEVEN TIMES.”

Writing allows me the opportunity to really dig in and study what GOD has to say and because of that process, I have found myself more in awe of what HIS word does say.

Psalm 119: 127 “THEREFORE I LOVE YOUR COMMANDMENTS ABOVE GOLD; ABOVE FIND GOLD.”

The word and HIS truth…….matters to me.

Sitting quietly in the presence of GOD, listening for HIS voice, helps us learn of HIS character and what matters to HIM.

What should matter to us should be what I like to call “vertical matters”.  When we keep our focus upward, the stuff of this world, pales in comparison!

Seeking vertical matters means seeking HIS glory, honor and mercy in all things and living HIS blessings out in our lives.  If you think about it, vertical matters matter more than horizontal matters!

Because we all have sinned and fall short, we cannot and should not ignore the matter of JESUS dying for our sins on the Cross, for taking our place and for standing in the gap for us.  This matter of redeeming us by GOD, is HIS reaching down from heaven to us when we need it the most.  Let our hearts and minds remain in a vertical pursuit, because keeping our eyes on the LORD, on the things from above, are what truly matters.  Because…….

ROMANS 2:16 “GOD JUDGES THE SECRETS OF MEN BY CHRIST JESUS.”

Let us search our hearts today……..for what matters.  Because what matters to GOD should matter to us!

PSALM 139: 23-24 “SEARCH ME, O GOD, AND KNOW MY HEART!  TRY ME AND KNOW MY THOUGHTS!  AND SEE IF THERE BY ANY GRIEVOUS WAY IN ME, AND LEAD ME IN THE WAY EVERLASTING!”
