Easter is coming soon and I want everyone to know that HE HAS RISEN! I do wish all of you readers here a joyous Easter, with all the blessings that our LORD can bring!
I want to focus a little on Good Friday and the next day. Saturday being the day after CHRIST was crucified and also Saturday being the day before CHRIST returned. If you think about it, Saturday was the day in-between. Saturday for the disciples was their in-between……..of tragedy and then triumph!
If you think on it, how can we have the joy and exaltation of Easter Sunday without Friday? The gospel is such that CHRIST died for us, while we were still sinners. HE endured a horrible death in our place. Imagine what the disciples saw and heard on that Friday. I wonder about their helplessness and broken hearts watching their Savior take HIS last breath.
We should remember that after Friday there was a day in-between, before Sunday, before everyone knew the good news. Saturday was their Sabbath, a day of rest. But how could they? What were their thoughts and were they remembering all the words JESUS had spoken to them?
MATTHEW 24: 27 “FOR AS THE LIGHTNING COMES FROM THE EAST AND SHINES AS FAR AS THE WEST, SO WILL BE THE COMING OF THE SON OF MAN.”
I wonder on that Saturday of rest, did the disciples continually ponder HIS words rethinking and analyzing them? Did the communion in the Upper Room with JESUS take on new significance?
LUKE 22: 19 “AND HE TOOK BREAD, AND WHEN HE HAD GIVEN THANKS, HE BROKE IT AND GAVE IT TO THEM, SAYING, THIS IS MY BODY, WHICH IS GIVEN FOR YOU. DO THIS IN REMEMBRANCE OF ME.”
Did the disciples understand that JESUS’S death made reconciliation and forgiveness of sin possible for all believers?
I am sure they were at a loss and grief stricken, but imagine the unbelievable joy when the women at the tomb on Sunday discovered it empty!
THEIR JOY IS OUR ETERNAL JOY!
Isn’t it amazing that after 2,000 years we still tell the story? The Bible tells the JESUS story of love for all mankind. HIS story is told and prophesied in ISAIAH 53. We know how the story began and we know how the story ends……because of the CROSS, we are set apart for eternity and GOD has never forgotten us. Let us consider this week HIS substitution for our sins. May the Easter story fill your heart with unending joy! Let us continue to take comfort and remember and ponder HIS words to us and let us worship our KING!
LUKE 22: 28-30 “YOU ARE THOSE WHO HAVE STOOD BY ME IN MY TRIALS, AND JUST AS MY FATHER HAS GRANTED ME A KINGDOM, I GRANT YOU THAT YOU MAY EAT AND DRINK AT MY TABLE IN MY KINGDOM, AND YOU WILL SIT ON THRONES JUDGING THE TWELVE TRIBES OF ISRAEL.”
