ONE WORD FOR 2018

Here we are again with a new year with new possibilities.  How many of you make New Year’s resolutions?  I quit doing it several years ago because I could never keep the ones I made past February.  Maybe it was because I was doing it all on my own…….without seeking GOD first.

Now I choose a WORD for the year.  Yes, just one word.  I pray about it and ask GOD to enlighten HIS words on the pages that I read.  Often a word will begin to repeat itself in scripture I read.  It becomes so obvious to me that I finally cannot ignore it, and that is how I choose.  GOD will repeat HIMSELF until we learn.

Last year my word was: wonder.  And I learned how wondrous GOD’S word is!  I also looked for the wonder in the world around me.  I found that often GOD would show me things which I could gaze upon with wonder and awe.

There is nothing like a road trip and GOD did not disappoint when not too long ago I visited the Rim here in AZ.

I was in awe at how the landscape changed from cactus to pine trees.  Honestly it was hard to believe I was still in Arizona and not back in my former state of Colorado.  The wonder of it all made me stop and really ponder what an incredible GOD we have that gives us the beauty around us.  HE loves to give us good gifts and I gave HIM the glory as my eyes took in the incredible beauty around me.  May I never take any of HIS gifts for granted like the sunsets here in Arizona which are always amazing.  Here is a recent one……

I fully embraced the wonder of life this past year, the wonder of our amazing GOD and the wonder of how HE seeks us!

PSALM 77: 14 “YOU ARE THE GOD WHO DOES WONDERS; YOU HAVE DECLARED YOUR STRENGTH AMONG THE PEOPLES.”

Yes, HE seeks us first, not the other way around……did you know?

I am thankful too, for the wonder of words and the wonder of being able to post here.  I love to write, but I am in awe of the WRITER who writes our stories even before we were born!

I encourage you to choose a word this year and embrace it, learn all you can about it, search for it and love it.

Choosing should be done after GOD reveals the word to you and trust dear friends that HE wants you to learn much from it!  Don’t take it lightly, write it down and keep it at the forefront of your every day comings and goings. Search for it daily and over time you will grow in your word too.

So……. choose soon my friends, the New Year has begun!  And encourage others to choose.  Ask them if they really keep resolutions and tell them about a one word choice and how simple and growth-oriented a one word can be.  My new word for 2018 is: abundant.  I pray that GOD’S abundant love, mercy and grace will be shown to me this coming year in a big way.  I look forward to this new leading by GOD and I do trust HIM……..abundantly!  May you too, be blessed abundantly with HIS peace, joy and guidance as you move forward through this New Year of 2018!

1 TIMOTHY 14: “AND THE GRACE OF OUR LORD WAS EXCEEDINGLY ABUNDANT, WITH FAITH AND LOVE WHICH ARE IN CHRIST JESUS.”

  1. You live in such a beautiful state! My husband and I lived in Sedona for a year before he started graduate school overseas. It was one of the happiest years of my life… we attended a small Bible church, and loved it. The weather was wonderful, and the desert has such beauty. One word… yes. I’m not quite sure what that is yet… but I have prayed and prayed… and God told me in the Fall to “take one step at a time.” And so that is my direction for the the year. Beautiful and inspiring post. Thank you!
