WHOSE ARE YOU?

When you look in the mirror, what do you see?  Or better yet, whose do you see?  Is that person looking back at you number one in your life, or is GOD?  Our self-seeking society and social media, all seem to be very concerned as to image.  But what or whom are you a reflection of?

If you are walking daily with the LORD, your life, beliefs, habits, and character should look different from the average population. Here is a harder question that just about everyone can relate to…….does your Facebook page look different from everyone else?  Does it show whose you are?  Or are you afraid of turning off some of those friends, or even losing followers? If you say you are a Christian on your Instagram account, do your pictures reflect that statement?

When you know whose you are: a child of GOD, your actions, words, life should reflect HIM without question.  There is no kind of  following JESUS.  You are either in it for HIM 100% or not.  The evidence of GOD in someone’s life is shown by a transformation of heart and character.  I always say, those things you used to love, now you hate, and those things you used to hate, now you love.  I know hate is a strong word, but yes those things you used to love now repulse you! The deeper your walk with GOD, the more HE shows you that the things of this world are meaningless next to HIM. Yes, GOD is in the heart business and HE wants your heart.

Best easy example I can give you about myself is that I used to watch soap operas Monday thru Friday……now I wouldn’t waste one minute on them……they disgust me. I spent all that time on useless entertainment and now I would give anything to have that time back.  But GOD showed me where my time should be spent……..on those matters of eternity.   The more I spent time in the WORD, the more that very WORD OF GOD rooted out those very things in my life and heart that weren’t of GOD. JESUS never said the road with HIM was going to be easy.  No, the road is long and narrow…….

MATTHEW 7:13-14 “YOU CAN ENTER GOD’S KINGDOM ONLY THROUGH THE NARROW GATE. THE HIGHWAY TO HELL IS BROAD, AND ITS GATE IS WIDE FOR THE MANY WHO CHOOSE THAT WAY. BUT THE GATEWAY TO LIFE IS VERY NARROW AND THE ROAD IS DIFFICULT, AND ONLY A FEW EVER FIND IT.”

If I am going to lead an obedient life, that means obedience to the WORD and the LORD’S commands.  There are no ways around it and if I am obedient, then I should be a reflection of JESUS with my character, my thoughts, my actions and my words…….

PSALM 19:14 “MAY THE WORDS OF MY MOUTH AND THE MEDITATION OF MY HEART BE PLEASING IN YOUR SIGHT, O LORD, MY ROCK AND MY REDEEMER.”

Let me explain further.  Have you ever known a Christian that acts like anyone else and you didn’t even know they were a Christian until they told you?  Shouldn’t we reflect the light and love of CHRIST?  I’m not saying we need to be perfect because we all sin…….but shouldn’t people think there is something different about us? 

So, I need to ask you again: when you look in the mirror are you a reflection of the world or do you reflect the ONE who died on the Cross for you? Making a choice to follow JESUS is just that: a choice!  Follow means, HE is the LORD and MASTER of your life and no one else comes before HIM.  And making that choice is an important one, only because if you don’t make that eternal choice, then the world will make one for you.

I recently asked a friend of mine what she saw when she looked in the mirror and this is what she said:

“When I look in the mirror I see a FATHER’S Daughter that lives and breathes in this world, messes up and makes a lot of mistakes.  I sin!  But I am always fully aware of GOD, even when I disappoint.  I know HE is faithful to forgive me, still loves me and holds me dear.”

Knowing the power and love of our LORD JESUS CHRIST is just this: HE died for us!  HE stands in the gap for us with unending mercy and grace.  And HE loves us too much to live without us.  So yes, if you are a CHRIST follower then the answer to the question: whose are you, is an easy one…… I AM HIS!
