IT HAS BEEN SAID: “Happy is he who has but one desire.”
So I need to ask you at this special time of year………what is your one desire? Have you ever noticed when you have that one desire, your focus becomes laser clear? You can see so clearly that it seems as if your heart hurts or yearns for that one desire.
Have you thought what your one desire is for this Christmas? We all want gifts, but there are those gifts that are treasures beyond this world. We all want good things for our lives, for our families, children, grandchildren and friends. But there is a one desire that we should have above all else!
Our heart’s desire should be to be one with the ONE the LORD sent to redeem us. Our desire should be for JESUS CHRIST to enter our hearts and live there. When that desire takes hold in us, then we are not very far from the wonderful KINGDOM BLESSINGS GOD has in store for us.
My desire since I have been walking with the LORD is to be close to HIM. When I feel far from HIM, I know it is me who has moved because HE is never far………HE is always near…….
“YOU have been MY GOD. Be not far from Me.” PSALM 22:10-11
Because HE is near and lives in us, then HE helps us with that heart desire every single day. But how do we keep that focus every day living our lives such as they are? My simple answer is: step by step, one day at a time, one hour at a time.
There are so many daily things we can do to further our relationship with JESUS…….we can pray on the hour, we can read scripture morning and night. Daily we can listen to Christian music and we can acknowledge our sins and ask for forgiveness from our GOD who forgives.
But you also can be one who does all of the above mentioned things and not truly have a desire for JESUS. You can know and understand all of the rituals with your head, but what about your heart? Once again, look at what your heart’s desire truly is………then you’ll know where you are on the road to Emmaus……..
“And they said to one another, “Weren’t our hearts ablaze within us while HE was talking with us on the road and explaining the Scriptures to us?” LUKE 24: 32
The disciples had their eyes opened on the road, but after being close to JESUS their hearts were burning with desire to spend even more time with HIM. Their one desire was their LORD and they experienced many wonders while they were with HIM.
During this Christmas Season, may your heart’s desire burn with a passion for JESUS. HE came into our world as a shining light for all to see and HE wants to live right there………. in your yearning heart!
LUKE 2: 18-19 “AND ALL THOSE WHO HEARD IT MARVELED AT THOSE THINGS WHICH WERE TOLD THEM BY THE SHEPHERDS. BUT MARY KEPT ALL THESE THINGS AND PONDERED THEM IN HER HEART.”
