WHY THE ONLY REAL SAFE PLACE IS IN THE ARMS OF GOD

I woke this morning not feeling safe.  In light of all the national news and events taking place, I felt very unsettled……..how about you? My heart was feeling heavy and my prayer list is only growing longer!  So what is a girl to do?

My first reach was for my Bible to find a scripture of comfort.  I needed words to hang on to and I found this scripture…….

PSALM 12:5 “NOW I WILL ARISE, SAYS THE LORD; I WILL SET HIM IN THE SAFETY FOR WHICH HE YEARNS.” NKJV

The HCSB Bible version says this:

PSALM 12:5 “I WILL NOW RISE UP, SAYS THE LORD, I WILL PUT THE ONE WHO LONGS FOR IT IN A SAFE PLACE.”

Do you notice the “I will” in both scriptures?  Isn’t it a comfort to know that GOD “will” always be our safe place?  And what a comfort it is to know, that GOD knows, we yearn for safety!  It’s a part of us, it’s in our DNA.

As I searched further for words of comfort………something……..anything………I found this too:

PSALM 78:53 “AND HE LED THEM ON SAFELY, SO THAT THEY DID NOT FEAR.”

How often have we been led to safety without even knowing?  Oh how the world can make us feel fearful!  But take heart dear reader, because GOD has overcome the world!

This past Sunday in Church our pastor led us in prayer for our nation, but we did something different.  Instead of sitting or standing, he asked us to literally get on our knees for the prayer.  There is something so different about being there……..knees to the floor, head brought low.  It is humbling, but also comforting.  Someone once said that you are closest to GOD when you are on your knees.  When you are brought low, GOD has a way of meeting you there because of HIS grace.  HE sees and hears those who cry out to HIM.  And I pray now in this time in our history that HE hears our voices crying out to HIM!

The world and all it’s evil right now should make us pause………..but let’s realize that GOD has never ever left us!  HE is……..HE was……..and HE always….. will be!  And we may not understand what is going on, but GOD’S plan is there and HIS words to us are true.  In the midst of these tough days, let us continue to develop a deep trust in HIM. Let our prayers continue………let our tears and anguish fall on HIM.  No problem we have here is too big for GOD, not now, not ever.

PSALM 40:2 “HE SET MY FEET UPON A ROCK, AND GAVE ME A FIRM PLACE TO STAND.”

Hold onto the ROCK that will not be moved……..not ever!  HE is secure when we are not.  And if you let the world define you, it will.  It will make you fearful and timid and isolated.  It will disappoint and discourage you!  Resist what the world says, and submit to the security of resting in the LORD who is the Alpha and Omega, forever and ever!  HE is our real HOPE and HIS arms are big enough for us all………HIS arms never tire either.  THEY are our comfort and our rest and our security because nothing here in our world is secure.

FIND YOUR SAFE PLACE AND SECURITY IN THE LORD……..

Ask GOD to meet you on your knees where the floor is cold, but the mercy is great.  HE WILL meet you there.  All you need to do is ask with a humble heart……..and the safe and secure HOLY ONE will surround you with HIS arms of grace and peace.  When you reach up for HIM, HIS love comes down in a secure way that will transform and restore you.  And you will realize that HE is your one true secure rest.  A place to dwell securely in for now, because it is our future.  GOD is our rock to stand on for now and…….forever!

HABAKKUK 3: 17-19 “THOUGH THE FIG TREE DOES NOT BUD AND THERE IS NO FRUIT ON THE VINES, THOUGH THE OLIVE CROP FAILS AND THE FIELDS PRODUCE NO FOOD, THOUGH THERE ARE NO SHEEP IN THE PEN AND NO CATTLE IN THE STALLS, YET I WILL TRIUMPH IN ‘YAHWEH’; I WILL REJOICE IN THE GOD OF MY SALVATION! YAHWEH MY LORD IS MY STRENGTH; HE MAKES MY FEET LIKE THOSE OF A DEER AND ENABLES ME TO WALK ON MOUNTAIN HEIGHTS!”
