I DON’T KNOW ABOUT YOU, BUT I BELIEVE THE WORD OF GOD IS ABSOLUTE TRUTH……..PERIOD.
His WORD can cut like a knife (and for me it often does) or it can comfort with a soft whisper. The more I am in the WORD, I realize there is no such thing as bending it to suit your own needs or situation. It is one way or the other with interpreting the WORD. There really is no in-between or gray areas. The WORD is very clear in what it says and no one has the right to add or subtract from it. But there are many people who do just that! They try to twist it to suit their own values, however, it’s sad to say, that is exactly when what GOD has said, gets lost in translation!
Be careful if you start splitting hairs with the WORD and be careful of anyone that tries to influence you in this manner. It is a dangerous thing to bend GOD’S word because the flesh will want to seize the moment when it can! Nothing good will ever come from taking GOD’S word out of context to suit our own needs or wants. Before you know it, you’ve constructed your own BIBLE of sorts and your own moral code. That is when you must ask yourself: am I being perfected by the WORD, or by the flesh?
THE TRUE WORD OF GOD IS A TREASURE LIKE NONE OTHER.
Paul said in Galatians 5: 16 to “walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.” The Spirit which is truth, speaks to us thru the word……..it does not contradict itself, it is true and pure throughout the Bible itself.
How often is this popular phrase from the BIBLE quoted: “an eye for an eye.” The actual quote is from Exodus 21: 23 – 25 which says: “But if any harm follows, then you shall give life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, burn for burn, wound for wound, stripe for stripe.” Actually this verse served as a guideline for judges in those days and not as permission for individuals seeking revenge in their personal relationships! And we see this verse referred to again in Matthew 5: 38 & 39 when JESUS says: “You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.’ But I tell you not to resist an evil person. But whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also.” JESUS used this example with HIS disciples to show them NOT to retaliate!
So by really studying the WORD through and through you get a very full and complete picture of what it is really saying. And oh how our society has embraced “an eye for an eye” in the exact opposite way that the WORD teaches! People love to quote this one over and over without having a clue as to what it really means! This is a prime example of twisting the WORD to suit oneself.
If we are to live in the WORD then let us embrace it as it is……..period. GOD’S WORD is so rich in wisdom and truth. It is a wonderful guide and anchor, and we should memorize it so we know when someone is misquoting it. Since we live in the WORD, we should correct anyone who uses it in the wrong manner. There is proof that the WORD lives in us……….when we read it and obey it and do exactly what it says! Let us have the WORD securely hidden in our hearts and minds too.
We are commanded to love the LORD with all our heart and all our mind and soul………just remember that reading HIS word daily and seeking to embrace it with all your heart and soul will benefit you like nothing else on earth.
PROVERBS 30 5-6 “EVERY WORD OF GOD IS PURE; HE IS A SHIELD TO THOSE WHO PUT THEIR TRUST IN HIM. DO NOT ADD TO HIS WORDS, LEST HE REBUKE YOU, AND YOU BE FOUND A LIAR.”
