THE SCARLET THREAD OF HIS REMNANT

I love ribbon.  A few years ago I really got into it around Christmas.  I couldn’t get enough of red ribbon and tied ribbons around everything in the house.  And if you really think on it, the perfect ribbon does make the package!  But ribbon can be used for a number of things, even to wear around your neck with a piece of jewelry attached.  In my house I have ribbons tied around candles, wreaths, and lanterns.  Just tie a ribbon around anything and that item is immediately dressed up. Somehow a package without ribbon seems bare and unfinished. Ribbon completes the package like nothing else can.

In the Bible story about Rahab in the book of Joshua, she sheltered the spies, and her life and her family’s lives were spared due to her tying a cord of scarlet thread in the window.  Some Bible versions say rope, or cord. By tying the scarlet cord, Rahab showed her faith in those men and their GOD.  The scarlet color represents the blood of sacrifice and redemption.

GOD WEAVES HIS THREAD OF LOVE THROUGHOUT GENERATIONS.

We can see and read about HIS thread of love for us in the Bible from GENESIS to REVELATION.  My friend Mary said to me recently that no matter how bad things get in the world, that GOD always leaves a remnant of HIS people.

Her words really comforted me on that particular day…….I was feeling pretty down about all the bad news in the world.  I was asking: “GOD where are YOU?”  Do you ever ask HIM that question?  GOD where are you in all of this?  In this mess?  In this death? In this job loss? In this diagnosis?

JEREMIAH 23: 3 says: “But I will gather the remnant of MY flock out of all countries where I have driven them, and bring them back to their folds, and they shall be fruitful and increase.”  GOD intended and did bring back HIS people to Israel.  HIS love and mercy were with them all along and HE is with us now.

GOD LOVES TO INTERWEAVE HIS THREAD OF LOVE THROUGHOUT GENERATIONS.

HIS love never leaves us or forsakes us………never………ever! It should bring us great peace knowing that from the beginning of time up until present day, no matter how bad things seem to be…….GOD is always there!  I love the fact that we can describe GOD’S faithfulness towards us in absolutes!  Is HE there? Always! Will HE abandon us? Never! Does HE hear us when we cry out? Every single time!  Will HE leave a remnant here on earth? By HIS grace, yes!

No matter how bad things get, or how bad we are………or sinful, GOD………WILL……..NEVER…….ABANDON US!  HE has promised that to us……..a covenant from the beginning and evident in the sky every time we witness a gorgeous rainbow.  Take that and keep it close to your heart.  GOD isn’t going anywhere now or in the future. HE loves us and continues to weave HIS love and grace throughout the days and years of our lives.  HE…..WON’T…….LEAVE YOU…….EVER!

ISAIAH 51: 8 “BUT MY RIGHTEOUSNESS WILL BE FOREVER, AND MY SALVATION FROM GENERATION TO GENERATION.”

JOEL 2:32 “AND IT SHALL COME TO PASS THAT WHOEVER CALLS ON THE NAME OF THE LORD SHALL BE SAVED. FOR IN MOUNT ZION AND IN JERUSALEM THERE SHALL BE DELIVERANCE, AS THE LORD HAS SAID, AMONG THE REMNANT WHOM THE LORD CALLS.”

  1. Your post is a much needed reminder of God’s Promise to never leave or forsake us! WE may wander and drift creating a canyon of separation from Our Father, but it is only on our part that it’s there because once we allow Him into our hearts and lives when we repent and are born-again, the Promise of God’s Word does not change. If we can’t feel The Holy Spirit in our life then we need to examine OURSELVES and see what we’ve allowed to creep back in that is separating us. We may walk away from God, but HE WILL NEVER NEVER EVER walk away from us. It saddens me though that God’s symbol of His Promise shown in a rainbow has been tainted and is used to represent sin. How heartbreaking this must be for Him!! Keep on keeping on, Max….you are a very beautiful light in a world that can be dark and ugly. I am so blessed to call you my sister-in-Christ and a cherished friend!!!
